This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

A sickeningly romantic one
Me and my girlfriend started talking about 18 months ago, coz we have mutual friends who made us add each other on Facebook. We got on really well, and agreed to meet up 13th May 2007 and within about 2 hrs, had fallen for each other.
We were walking hand in hand through London, and I was telling her about my favourite show 'MST3K' (I doubt people will have heard of it, look it up, its great) and I told her about the plot, characters, and at the point i said that the logo was a moon made of insulating foam, she said "like this one?"
She bent down, and picked up a little button badge of the MST3K logo.
I have looked online, you cant buy them, hardly anyone in England even knows the show.

I love that badge, but not as much as I love the girl who in 5 days time, I will have been with for one year, and who I hope to spend every year with.

Are you kidding me?
Of course I know of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Favourite episode? Soultaker

But the film rules all!

Good to find someone who knows it
But you must also know how..well...unknown it is, and what the chances of finding a non-commerical badge of the logo in England.

Aye...
It is very rare!

FACT: The film they lampoon in the MST3K movie is shown in E.T. - it's the film that scares him!

Also Fact!
The Movie is actually shorter than the episodes...

I remember turning off a dvd and the tv flicking to the movie, which was on at the time. Couldn't stop laughing for an hour...

And this is such a sweet story!

MST3K isn't *that* unknown in the UK...
...and especially among people on this site, I would have thought. It used to come on late every night (or felt like it) and on Sunday afternoons on the Sci-Fi channel in the late 90s up until about 2001 when they stopped showing it completely (and responded very huffily to my email asking when it would come back!). The movie has also been on ITV at least 4 times. Rifftrax will hopefully have been introducing new fans to the series too.

Badge
I've done stuff like that before, found out something a friend is interested in then got an item related to it. I then proceed to carry it with me while waiting for an opportune moment to go 'Oh look what I've found'. If she just found it that's great if she arranged it on purpose that could be even greater.
