This is a question Things to do before you die

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us that his ambition is to a) drive around New Zealand in a camper van; and b) have MASSIVE sex with the original members of Bananarama. Tell us what's on your wish list, and why.

Here are my travel related places to do before I die
Already seen lots of amazing places, but my list seems to get longer and longer:
1. Bhutan
2. Burma
3. Japan
4. Syria
5. Ethiopia
6. Sail around the south pacific islands (they're 1000's of miles away from each other so this would probably take months)
7. China
8. Horse trek through Kyrgystan (hoping to do this one next year).

I want to see everything in the world that's cool before I die. I realise this will take lots of time and cash but I'm going for it anyway...

Syria is an amazing place to visit! Apart from tbe sights, the people are really friendly and an invite for a cup of tea can often turn into a 3 course meal!

Whilst you're there hop over to Jordan and visit Petra too!

Petra would be interesting.
I was in Iran this year, sounds kind of similar to Syria, the people were really lovely. I've vowed not to go anywhere where they have those mosques decorated with blue tiles for the next few years though, simply because when I look at my photos I can't remember whether I'm looking at Iran, Uzbekistan etc.

If you're tired of this planet...
...try winter in Iceland.

It's like Massive Drugs, without the Massive Drugs

oh thanks I forgot
9. See the Northern Lights in Iceland, or maybe north Norway.

See? The list never ends...

Kyrgyzstan is on my list too (see earlier post)
...plus, I have an American friend who has been to Burma/Myanmar a couple of times and says it's one of the most beautiful places he's ever seen. The regime there is corrupt and psychotic, and you'll be followed around by the secret police most of the time, but there's some merit to the philosophy that if you're actually there and spending time in their bars, hotels and restaurants, you're putting real money into the hands of the people who need it, rather than into General Than Shwe's personal Swiss bank account.

That's probably a bit more than you wanted to hear. On the plus side, there are a fair few reputable firms in Australia, New Zealand, Bali and Guam who do packages to take you around the Pacific Islands for any length of time from 1 week to six months, calling on as many ports as you want to go to in that time. You'd get a skipper (and one or two crew if you need them), rent of a decent boat, and training for a week if you aren't sure about how to pilot a vessel... you'd need at least twenty grand UK money for a decent trip, though. And don't watch 'Dead Calm' the night before setting off

thanks Katabatic
at twenty grand maybe I'll have to wait til I've won the lottery... but that's the point of a bucket list isn't it, aim high!

Get your point about Dead Calm too - a friend and her boyf took a boat round the pacific and had massive storms, shark infested waters. Sounded a real adventure. No psychotic killers tho, phew!

The Umayad Mosque in Damascus has lots of tiles, but these are mainly green and golden www.travelblog.org/Photos/2194622 Unusually animal plants etc are depicted. Other places to visit include Krak de Chevalier, Hamah, Palmyra, Bosra and M'aloula.

I visited Burma last year.

Some of the most amazing people Ive ever had the pleasure to share green tea and stories with.

As someone else mentioned here, the police really do follow you around
