Oh god
Did you see it last night? They've resorted to the Alistair McGowan method of having to tell the audience who they're doing an impression of.

No
I think its different writers because MacGowan is supposedly pissed off that they are essentially ripping off a lot of his characters

Oh - I dunno
I just know he is pissed off that Dead Ringers are essentially doing the same material as him - ie BBC News pisstakes, Nigella, Sven Goran Eriksson, etc etc

Ooh Rob,
can we have a Rolf Harris interview?
I think that would be good.

I noticed that
EVERY character they did was introduced by "hello, I'm *insert name here*" Truly terrible.
The Steve Irwin impression was shit.

ahh
good point, that part was actually very funny.
Ozzie fakes the moon landings.
But McKellen (spl?) Brian Blessed, and even Arnie were introduced by their names.

Lets face it
if they HADN'T announced those 3, you'd never have been able to tell... except perhaps brian blessed.

exactly
which is what makes them so very bad.
But the Dr Who, and Russel Crow as Gladiator ones are very good.... it is hit and miss.

Oh yeah,
the make up was good, but the impression was shite.
The Alan Rickman was very good.

no no no
Phil Cornwall is also on Stell Street (as you probably know) and John Sessions does a fantastic Rickman on that. It doesn't seem right having Cornwall do the impression.

even on the radio they had a habit
of spoon feeding the jokes to you, like you're an ITV viewer or something.
and phoning up a receptionist and pretending to be Tony Blair, is not ever going to be side splitting, what can the receptionist do, say 'fuck off tony!', and lose their job? grrrr

it's good
but just a shame you left Tom Baker in the bottom left corner.

You have a woman's bottom melord!

Hehe!
While I was b3ta-ing, I was also looking at a webboard for Battlefield 1942, and someone had this as their avatar. The timing was *perfect*
EDIT: oh dear. It's horribly dark on here. N'er mind

impressionists
never have enough material and end up resorting to obvious gags.

I think
van gogh is quite good too - but this joke has already been caned.

Yes. It is rubbish.
Its such a shame because the radio series was great. I think it just doesn't translate to TV.
Same goes for "People like us". Hilarious on Radio 4, not so great on BBC 2.

Was the even better on the radio?
Cos I thought it was brilliant on telly - never heard it on R4

It was much funnier on the radio than on telly
but I didn't find the tv show all that great.

the radio show had a certain authentic Radio 4 Documentary
feel about it, which the TV show lacked.

And it also had
Brian Perkins* saying "Bo Selecta!" and being all "street" which was just hilarious.

Indeed I miss the Wilderbeast Years and Milton Jones
both of which were stunning, though I have some of the episodes on mp3, no where near enough.
