Anyone who didn't turn off their TV when Gallagher appeared last night

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:13, 2 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
i got really upset when my favouite industrialhardcoregimpmetal band weren't at the olympics as well

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:15, Reply)
I'm sure you did, petal

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:16, Reply)
it's just like a band, they weren't that offensive and played one the host nations favourite songs, like ever
beady eye were at heaton park and it's pretty amusing that they're reduced to being an oasis covers band
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:20, Reply)
Noel's new band it shit and all

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:23, Reply)
I've got news, the one he was in before that was shit as well

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:24, Reply)
Well quite

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:25, Reply)
You're about the same age as me right?
Didn't it just drive you fucking mental the way that godawful song was everywhere in 1996? Sends shivers up my spine.

Seeing as how Oasis split up because the tragic sibling bickering reached girly slaps level, why doesn't Gallagher Sr completely kipper his brother's new band by refusing them permission to play his songs live?
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:24, Reply)
It was one of their more inoffensive efforts, what got me was the whole 'mad 4 it' personas, they were just cocks for the sake of it
Noel can't really withdraw live broadcast rights, plus their mammy would be furious
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:31, Reply)
I have no idea about the legality of former band members doing live renditions, I always assumed the songwriter had ultimate say-so
I'm with you on their public persona - obviously - though am also grateful that it basically meant they sold fuck all in America. However I also hated every last one of their piss-poor songs with a fiery vengeance. They made Blur look competent. BLUR.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:36, Reply)
I don't mind blur, at least they developed their sound during their career, it weren't just the same song for ten years spread out over sixteen different albums

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:39, Reply)
On this point I completely agree
Didn't like their later stuff either but at least it was different. Their output whilst competing with Oasis was fucking terrible though.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:42, Reply)
He was nearly singing in key for about 2 seconds of it, too.
Actually, I lie. He was so far away from a key I can only assume his house has no locks.

Which band is that Rory the Lion?

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:16, Reply)
combichrist of course

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:18, Reply)
I don't know them, sorry

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:18, Reply)
They were Christmas No1 in 1987 with "Fuck that Shit"

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:19, Reply)
Was that not Pet Shop Boys with "Fuck your supposed Xmas classic you whiny Irish fucks"?
Might have been '88, soz.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:22, Reply)
It was absolutely dreadful wasn't it? Stomp? FFS.

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:17, Reply)
Worse was to come though
Much worse
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:19, Reply)
I turned off when the athletes came out, it was both shit AND boring
also, madness = shit, pet shop boy s= uber shit, emili Sandi = flat, 1 direction = bent...
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:21, Reply)
I want to know who Sande is sleeping with to get gigs at both ceremonies
The newspapers theme was also supremely misguided, I was half expecting Andy Coulson and Rebecca Brooks to do a duet on Milly Dowler's grave
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:25, Reply)
is this Sande woman actually famous?
all the others (even that boy band and the naked dryad woman) I recognised their songs vaguely, but not hers
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:28, Reply)
She sang the chorus on a Professor Green song
and has had one solo 'hit'
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:28, Reply)
i don't know who that is, either
I must be middle aged
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:30, Reply)
You are missing nothing in either case

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:30, Reply)
My only theory is that she's Scottish
and they've got quotas to fill
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:31, Reply)
It was astonishingly poorly thought out
and even without the leverson enquiry, faintly bizarre
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:28, Reply)
i was hoping it was all going to be
a bit lucy in the sky with diamonds. Newspaper taxis and massive celephane flowers
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:29, Reply)
Agreed
Our newspapers are one of the things we should be most ashamed of as a nation. Along with Russell Brand and Liam Gallagher.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:30, Reply)
Exactly, just because we've only just noticed what a sordid bunch of con artists the tabloid journalists are
doesn't mean that the rest of the world hasn't looked down on them with some scorn for years
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:31, Reply)
They were a bunch of lying conniving cunts a long time before they got caught

(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:32, Reply)
Russell Brand throwing sweets to athletes
doesn't bode well for any future drugs tests they face.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:31, Reply)
Did you see Brazil's little party piece?!
Drug tests are going to be VERY different in 2016. "I'm sorry Mr Bolt, there was insufficient LSD in your piss test, get out"
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:32, Reply)
Nah, I fucked off to bed the second I saw "beady eye" written on the drum kit.
I appreciate Oasis are popular even though I fucking hate them, so I'm not having a hissy fit about that, but I knew Gallagher Junior would rape whatever song they chose back to stone age. Checked this morning and lo, I was right.
(, Mon 13 Aug 2012, 17:37, Reply)
I don't think it was any worse than it was in '96 frankly
It's the same principle as if you divide anything by zero it ends up as zero
