# serious answer moment:
criticising something as a 'dog' is an americanism. the phrase 'dog's bollocks' comes, if i remember correctly, because some breeds of male dogs have uncommonly large testicles, given their overall size.

it may well also be worth pointing out in this thread that the word 'Berk' is anabbreviation of the cockney rhyming slang phrase 'Bershire Hunt'. I'll leave it up to you lovely people to work out what it means...
