or are you just in it for the presents?
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:32, archived)
but follow no particular religion
do i still qualify for pressie booty?
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:35, archived)
I was just curious about the amount of merry christmassing going on.

of people being nice to each other for one day a year. Not that it ever really happens that way though.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:38, archived)
and I'd rather people were just nice to each other always. I despise the need to have a special day to pretend that you're being nice to each other and then that they don't even do it
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:39, archived)
even if you buy that special someone a present every now and again for no real reason, if you don't do something on valentines day you are a cold monster with a heart of stone.

*never dated anyone*. just expressing an observation. jesus...twenty years old and never had a girlfriend...sob.
ahem, thats everyones cue to give me sympathy :)
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:47, archived)
i reckon i could actually do without this year. if it was a choice between christmas existing as it is now, or not getting any presents, i would pick the latter. honestly.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:43, archived)
entirely - it implies that the rest of the year yer an uncaring cnut, but one special day you make an effort. Pah. What a boad of lollocks :)
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 1:07, archived)
and say "shouldn't that be a god, rather than god, and shouldn't god be deity?"
i am drunk on wine though, so feel free to ignore this as pedantic bumjunk
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:37, archived)
and maybe you're not...
the white wizard will know...
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:45, archived)
But next year I may drop out entirely, and just send people token gifts.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:35, archived)
but we don't get presents as it is.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:37, archived)
it seems to upset them that I actually don't really want anything. Unless they want to buy me a £1700 powerbook, which they don't.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:38, archived)
but I don't need it anymore, so I can afford to tell them to stop.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:40, archived)
wait, you're always saying you can't afford to go places. doesn't money buy travel anymore? i'm in trouble if it doesn't. I've only got so many frequent flyer miles to burn.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:41, archived)
but there's a difference between being able to afford a holiday and not being able to afford food
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:42, archived)
but for now, just coming off being terribly terribly broke, food seems more important
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:44, archived)
you're being too serious. i was merely suggesting that if you could get a free holiday, and your parents were willing, who'd it hurt? tell them to send me the cash instead.
(p.s. I'm only kidding. And now I really do have to go to dinner.)
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:47, archived)
i am not even an atheist. I am solely in it for the presents.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:35, archived)
so why not.
imagine my little nephew's face when I say "No presents for you mate, I'm afraid I don't believe in supporting the rampant and cynical commercialisation of a religious festival I don't believe in"
bless 'im, he's only 6.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:35, archived)
your made to feel as if you HAVE to buy presents. to be honest, I don't feel like celebrating the birth of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ. his presence on this earth seems to have brought nothing but trouble for the last 2000 years
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:39, archived)
the blatant commercialism and free gifts.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:36, archived)
and because the media has brainwashed me into thinking i *have* to be in it.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:36, archived)
coca cola!
I'd like to say 'it's all their fault' but I've been down this road on 'ere before and was told otherwise
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:41, archived)
damn their brilliant marketing strategies!
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:42, archived)
when i first see the advert with all those fucking trucks.

there's a magical place we're on our way there, with toys in their millions all under one roof... it's called TOYS R US!
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:53, archived)
i wouldn't be a toys r us kid.
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 0:55, archived)
never been a toysrus kid, and icklewitchy isn't either - she gets her toys from anywhere that sells what she wants after she's returned the christmas gifts she didn't want :) That might be a big store or a charity shop - we don't care!
Do you have shops run by charities in 'we got saddam' land?
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 1:09, archived)
to do with Jesus, and a great big squirrel of a lot to do with money and showing how great we are by giving a better present than anyone else. however, it does promote SOME good christian stylee things... family, love etc. like kittymeowmeow said, it'd be nicer if these things were taken into account all year, but i think it does do some good. and i like many pagan things, such as christmas trees and mince pies, which are fabbity, and i won't hear a word against them!
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 1:09, archived)
being very christian then :) Shirley family, love etc have bog-all to do with christianity and more to do with families who - *gasp* - like each other. Yay!
Oh, swift edit, to me xmas is double stress 'cos we're *expected* to do the family entertainment shite at the same time every year.....that we do quite a few other times during said year, but that's not xmas. Why should it be a special day when we have the parents and/or friends round? Why not like most other times when we have 'em round because we're social types......
Sorry, that turned into a rant :/
(, Tue 23 Dec 2003, 1:12, archived)
but they are very christian too. i'm pretty new to this whole business, and not promoting it massively well. but it's great knowing you're loved all year round by someone who's even nicer than your sister. God, i mean. in case you were confused. as i am starting to be, slightly
