I foundthat a John Smedley is also a developer at Sony. Not sure what sort of developer or what.
The only Sony focus group I ever had dealings with listened to me, that's why Medievil 2 for the PS lets you put his skull on a hand and run it around. that was my idea, that was.

Alrighty... let me explainIt's a reference to Star Wars Galaxies (SWG).
John Smedley is the president of Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) which on November 14th 2005 launched the New Game Enhancements (NGE) on the player-base of SWG. Out went the profession diversity and mix-and-match skills that was previously there (32 fun professions) to be replaced by NINE "iconic" professions.
The whole game changed, the combat, the controls, the interface - EVERYTHING was changed. Apparently "focus groups" indicated that the NGE was needed. Did SOE actually bother to listen to the subscribers and existing player-base? did they fuck. they utterly ignored the entire subscriber base and pushed the NGE on the live servers.
Overnight entire communities vanished and the live servers became a barren place populated by frustrated and seething players who had to cope with a new and confusing system.
WHO in their right mind changes the entire game overnight? What the fuck did SOE expect? John Smedley this .. .for dummies book is just for you.
