# it really is
i watch it and i seem to be able to understand it without having to read the subtitles, it all just flows into me.

# You made me watch that again last night.
Mmmmmmm. Best film for years.

...and maybe it's because you can actually speak French, but due to some amnesia-type thing, you can't rememeber that you can.

# I did French up to GCSE level and got a C
so just normal french knowledge really, but I was listening to the Bonnie & Clyde song by serge Gainsbourg a month or so ago and that's in French too and that one i have heard hundreds of times because it's in an episode of Blue Jam. Anyway this time I suddenyl found myself singing along with it, but I was singing in English and translating as I went along. So my subconscious has clearly worked out the translation but it never thought to tell me it had.

# I once fell asleep...
...during a Spanish language film.

I woke up when the film was still playing, but the cast were all speaking English.

For a second, I thought I had undergone some kind of brain transformation and could suddenly understand Spanish.

In actual fact, they were really speaking English.

# Actually.
I think you did undergo a brain transformation.

# it's really interesting how the brain deals with comprehending things
and how the interpreation can be influenced by the strangest of things, making it imposible.
Oh god sorry but the most beautiful song is on radio 1 right now!!!!

# maybe
you've just watched it an awful lot of times?

Merely a thought. ;)
(, Tue 25 Mar 2003, 0:42, archived)
# Actually it was like that the very first time and i've only watching it 3 times.
It only dawned on me as the end credits rolled that it had actually been in French. (I knew it was going to be, but i never found myself having to 'read' the subtitles)
