so just normal french knowledge really, but I was listening to the Bonnie & Clyde song by serge Gainsbourg a month or so ago and that's in French too and that one i have heard hundreds of times because it's in an episode of Blue Jam. Anyway this time I suddenyl found myself singing along with it, but I was singing in English and translating as I went along. So my subconscious has clearly worked out the translation but it never thought to tell me it had.

For a second, I thought I had undergone some kind of brain transformation and could suddenly understand Spanish.

In actual fact, they were really speaking English.

It only dawned on me as the end credits rolled that it had actually been in French. (I knew it was going to be, but i never found myself having to 'read' the subtitles)
