Purplestock 2012

My yearly charity mini-festival in memory of Jessie. Last year's was a huge success and raised nearly a grand, half of which went to the Cat Survival Trust, the rest split between charities Jess supported. This year it'll be split between the Cat Survival Trust and The British Heart Foundation.

Venue is The Victoria Room at Waterfall, near the railway station.
It's a Bank Holiday weekend, and the weather will be warmer than January... admission is only £3 this year too, so you're really running out of excuses not to come ;)

NOTE: Those of you that have booked hotels near the Old Bell, don't worry: it's still walking distance, just about - 20/25 minutes or so I'd say... however taxis in Derby are very cheap - especially if you phone Chad's Cars on 01332 666222 :)

Gav from Skullfunk will be kicking things off at 5 o'clock with a short acoustic set, then:

aMiFuBa - Derby based funk/rock hybrid
Brainchoke - top-speed grindcore from my little brother!
Mr Wolf - Punk rock mayhem
We Were Human - Grunge Rock from Nottingham
Old School Enemy - A blend of punk, metal and classic rock goodness from Bradford
NekroPolitik - Hard rock/metal with a rock n' roll twist
Skullfunk - crushing funk/metal monster; imagine Pantera playing the theme music to Shaft

I've managed to get a free room out of Jury's Inn too, so if you win purplestock.co.uk/competition.cfm you won've even have to pay for your accommodation!

NOTE: the start time is 5pm, not 6 - the calendar appears to be going a little spazzy...

Going to try my bloody best to be there.

If you have the space/yearning for some punk ukulele action let me know!

I only wish I could mate.

You know I'll be there in thought. After getting rid of the mow I'm taking Nina's advice and growing it long again. :D

Shit, you vanish for a few years and this sort of thing happens behind your back. I'll try and be there for old times sake.

Wild horses, while quite alarming when riled, wouldn't keep me away.

Can I do a DJ set?
Past punter praise for my DJing (all true!):
-"Dance? You can barely walk to this!"
-"What the fuck are you doing?"
-"Look mate, ha ha and everything, but will you pack it in now?"
-"Well, at least you got the children dancing!"
-"Cunt!"

Forgot I was surrounded by philistines.

"Whut you in for?"
"Being ahead of my time..."
"Heh. Yeah, me too."

Sounds ace...

I'll really try and make it down to Derby for this one. Especially as Bratfud is representing, innit.

Jury's Inn is walking distance, but if you're on a budget there are a few Travel Inn/Travelodge type places

Most of them are within a fiver or so of the Bell by taxi, and if you get one on Pride Park it's walkable in about 30/40 minutes if you're REALLY on a budget

(, Sat 17 Mar 2012, 11:25, Reply)
Yeah taxi cost versus room cost, for the sake of £20, jury's seems best.

Breakfast on Sunday morning

Is cheaper and better in the Wetherspoons down the road from the Jury's.
