He just played anything and everything (as long as it was good). Less circle-jerk than 6 music is today.

This is a normal post I still think of 6 Music as "The John Peel Memorial Channel"
Just like him it plays about a third excellent music, a third dull ones, and a third completely unlistenable.

I do ignore the presenters though.

Home Truths was a good show and he really made it. They tried continuing after the old nonce pegged it, but it wasn't working, so they binned it. Whereas Jack Dee maybe not be anywhere near as good as Humph but he's not bad and the show still works.
