Very un-Tarquin, and un-chav. It's a tough line to get right nowadays.

This is a normal post Confirmed that one person was killed in the crash.
We might still be in luck.

Does Morrissey like space by any chance?

This is a normal post Wah wah waaaaaaah
What's the point of the stupid thing? It's not like it's an actual proper spaceship like off Star Trek.

They already killed a bunch of people on the ground when the motor went bang.

We should all be rooting for Virgin, chaps. Pushing the boundaries of science and democratising space flight.

There I said it.

And he's hardly democratising it. Plutocratising it maybe

This is a normal post Space travel's worth your interest
But that aside, all transport breakthroughs start with the rich, pal. Plebs get their chance later. If you've got a better model for providing the cash, let us know.

This is a normal post get their chance to what? Visit Venus?
I've seen pics, it looks a bit hot. Not much happening in the low season either
(, Fri 31 Oct 2014, 21:43, , Reply)
This is a normal post I'd quite like to visit Mars
But Virgin Galactic aren't going to be doing that in my lifetime.

SpaceX on the other hand have that as their stated goal.

This is a normal post This isn't the sort of space flight I'm interested in.
Sure you might be able to reach 100km, just. You're not staying there though.

Suborbital spaceflight serves no practical purpose anymore. To all intents and purposes this is just an expensive fairground ride.

This is a normal post But it's not astronauts
It's a step in the right direction. Right?

This is a normal post It's a step down the wrong path though.
This isn't a route that will end up with mass access to space. It's hard to see how this technology could even be expanded to put a single human in orbit.

Elon Musk is on the right track - his stated goal is to get to Mars. Everything that SpaceX does advances progress towards that goal. That's the right direction - not a five minute vomit comet ride for those with too much spare cash.

Felix Baumgartner's record was broken this week. You probably didn't hear about that though as he was sponsored by Google, not Red Bull.
