Foreign country, their problem to sort out.
Or shall we start lecturing Pakistanis, Russians and former soviet bloc states etc on their gun control?

That sounds dangerously close to the liberal racist "we should respect brown people's moral stance" argument for not interfering on female genital mutilation, honour killings &c.
I think we should all starting thinking as denizens of this planet, rather than individual countries.... There are universal moral wrongs & turning a blind eye, so as not to offend 'different' cultural morals is patently wrong.

[edit]
Pakistan also has liberal gun laws and has had it's share of mass killings which barely gets a mention.
In the past weeks they've had aid workers murdered which didn't get people jumping up and being keyboard warriors.

but where do these "Universal Moral Wrongs" come from, if not our culture?

I am unaware of Sam Harris (though his book on lying rings a bell), which book should I start on?

I read an online article by him some time ago so I know what his stance is on this, to be honest I wasn't impressed by his argument, and some quotes of his books elsewhere really put me off. He's one of these "all religion should be abolished" types.

[edit] Checked some of his stances on Israel, the religious &c. Ah.

I'm sure the same point would be made if Pete Doherty made a video lecturing others on drug use.
(, Wed 9 Jan 2013, 17:18, Reply)
it's the same as ewan mcgregor (trainspotting) or leonardo de caprio (the basketball diaries) lecturing other on drug use. ie. not hypocritical at all whatsoever.

...instead of pretending to for entertainment. Pretty much the same result in the end though...

Is the point not that film stars sometimes are involved in films featuring guns yet they speak in favour of gun control?
Can you not see that your Doherty comparison is pretty wide of the mark?
Edit: what those chaps above said ^^
