Two birds with one stone, really.

Edit: I do mean the ones with feathers.

This is a normal post Wait I'm confused.
So he says I'm being "ironic" implying that I'm pretending to be insincere while actually being a massive racist. Thus, for lightly castigating someone for being racist I'm now perceived to be the actual racist here.

Fuck you badger catapult, you just caused a rift between me and my new second black friend. Fortunately for me I only actually need the one.

racism is believing that cultural/racial differences imply inferiority. It is not merely acknowledging that such differences exist.
(, Sun 10 Feb 2013, 22:11, , Reply)
This is a normal post Racism doesn't need to imply inferiority to be classified as such.
Racial stereotypes are damaging and are better left not reinforced. Also, you can say they're cultural but in practice they might as well be racist.

This is a normal post This is bullshit.
You might as well say you "don't see color".

This is a normal post So it's better if I make judgements about people based on their skin colour?

(, Sun 10 Feb 2013, 22:28, , Reply)
This is a normal post No, but to imply there are no cultural differences is just as ignorant.
I'm done with this game.

This is a normal post That's not what I was trying to suggest.
Of course there are cultural differences my point was simply that fetishising stereotypes does nobody any favours. Tbh I don't really have a problem with your sketch I was just messing with you a bit.

No need to have a flounce.

I honestly didn't peg you for a racist like our new friend juliachildcia.

Maybe if you slept with loads of black people you'd get over your irrational fear. It worked for me with tigers.

Is there something inherently negative about liking watermelon?

Is saying that black people have big dicks not racist?
(, Sun 10 Feb 2013, 22:42, , Reply)
This is a normal post those stereotypes have a context.
black people's physicality was used to suggest that they were intellectually inferior, and the watermelon thing is because poor southern blacks had to eat what was easy to grow.

This is a normal post That's a good point
What about Asian people being good at maths? even if it might be subverted was it always negative?

Does it only become racist if it takes on negative connotations?
(, Sun 10 Feb 2013, 23:01, , Reply)
This is a normal post that's a generalisation based on Asian immigrants encouraging their kids to take advantage of the opportunities of a Western education.
but I accept your broader point with the caveat that this is cultural, rather than racial.

I think there's been a little confusion on my part about what you were trying to say. It's pretty axiomatic that racism implies both inferiority and superiority. For some reason I thought you were suggesting one without the other but that's retarded and I don't know why I thought that.

This is a normal post I love this thread
What starts out as tongue in cheek ends up getting a bit serious.

I'd have thought that any non-Brit who joins B3ta should at least understand the gist of British humour.

I am going to show this thread to my black mate who always finds these sorts of conversations amusing, in the most patronising way.

Yes! I have a black mate! Subtext, I most definitely cannot be a racist.
