And yet, you can't see 185,453,256,248,439,422 apples. You can't see them, because there never has been, and never will be, a heap of all those apples. And even if there was, you couldn't actually SEE them could you? they would be hidden, or too far away.
A "number" is not really something that you can see. It's a mathematical concept.
