This is a link post MIT Technology Turns Humans into Carebears
In a demo presented at the TED conference last week, an MIT research group gave us a flavor of what the future of augmented reality might be. Basically, their system involved a wearable projector, camera, and computer. Using computer vision, the camera would identify what was in front of you, then project information on to this object or person.

Edit: Description added to save further confusion

This is a normal post That is most excellent.
I'd want a head mounted display though. If I was browsing word clouds associated with people I'd want to be the only one who could see them. Imagine it came up with "this person is a total pillock", and they happened to glance at their chest.

Also, what happens if you meet a woman who is wearing a low cut top? "I'm not staring at your breasts, I'm reading your tag cloud... honest!"

This is a normal post I feel cheated by this slightly.
I was expecting the guy to walk around and see everyone around him appear to be Care-bears. My version of augmented reality sounds like more fun than MITs.

This is a normal post To quote my post:
"Okay, but by that reckoning 20 years ago we should have landed on Jupiter. 10 years ago we should have begun riding unicorns and by now we should have evolved into care bears."

Where did my mind pull that from? I was trying to think of the most fantastical thing I could to make a point and dammit, we HAVE evolved into Care Bears :(

This is a normal post It really doesn't help that my reply was to a thread about
wild conspiracy type theories and secret encoded messages and numerology type thing. Which is like, say the number twentythree mysteriousness.

Oh did I post this shortly after on the main board too? www.b3ta.com/board/9256029
