This is a question The B3ta UK Manifesto

With the General Election nearly upon us, here's your chance to lay out your own manifesto for the UK. What would you do if you were in charge? Here's your chance to think big! (Or you can call for free hugs and chocolate biscuits. They're important too.)

Make the "Royal Family" declare their earnings
Then ask why we are contributing primarily to the civil list, and secondarily to their police protection, lovely train, houses bought by their predecessors etc..

We get a lot of shite from all parties about tax avoidance. How can it be enforced unless the irrelevant inbred occupants of big houses that we pay for are made accountable.

If you want them - public subscription. I support various charities via a small monthly contribution. The royal family could be supported in the same way by the Daily Mail frothers.

Can't we just have another round of sending all the republicans off to the colonies?

I'm not particularly pro-monarchy
as anti-yet another round of voting that ends up with someone most of us didn't want. At least the Royals are relatively powerless.

The civil list hasn't existed for three years.
There is now a sovereign grant that amounts to 15% of the income from the crown estate. Seeing as the crown estate is not publicly owned but belongs to the royal family (although they can't sell it by law), they basically pay 85% of their earnings into the public purse.

The crown estate doesn't extend to Duchy holdings though

Go out the house
and look at all the tourists taking photos. Just marvel and wonder how much value they bring us. Its cheap tourist marketing, and additionally, they keep this poxy little island hitting above its weight in a world with much bigger economies.

And, of course, who would fuck all the underage children
if it wasn't for the occasional royal?

How much are Americans taxed for Disneyland?
Make our dear tourists pay. In farebox (directly attributed revenue) terms what are they actually paying to stand outside a large house that we own?

Florida might be a good example - it has two primary economies although when Panamax happens it might get a third. The first is Limestone, the second is tourism. Tourism in Florida is capitalism in it's most refined condition.

Charge the tourists for a royal family experience. It's a whole fantasy world anyway - that's how you'll get value and take them off our hands.

Yeah 'hitting above its weight'
Our backward political system being a source of quaint amusement for renaissance faire loving Americans always fills me with national pride.
