This is a question Dodgy work ethics

Chthonic asks: What's the naughtiest thing a boss has ever asked you to do? And did you do it? Or perhaps you are the boss and would like to confess.

Store-brand sherbet
I used to work at an astoundingly cheap restaurant... but the cheap was all in the owners. The place was decorated in TJ Maxx finery... customers were made to sit in the coatroom when it got busy... The most egregious, I think, was the dessert. For $4.50 one could purchase a serving of "Lemon Sorbet." It was store brand lemon sherbet.$1.99 a half gallon. Embarrassing. Oh yeah... I also had to pay out the kitchen hombres at the end of the week. All cash, all illegal.

Ten points for using 'egregious',
a word that can either mean 'outstandingly terrible' or equally 'fantastic'.
I guess you mean the former?

I'm pretty sure this
is standard practice for most restaurants.

Even the top end places buy their food in - there was some scandal (read tedious whining) in the UK press a while back because a celeb chef had been caught selling dodgy old meat pies he bought from a wholesaler as 'home made' in one of his eye-wateringly expensive eateries.

I'm not sure why you class that as "whining".
Perhaps you're too important to care about fraud?
