What's the stupidest thing you've ever done to yourself?

Went to university
3 years of study, £10k of debt. Piece of paper I've never needed to use.

Got my annual statment thing from Student loans only this morning.
Still owe in excess of £10k, paid off about £600 this year, interest was £260. Hardly seems fecking worth it...

I still owe them money
12 years after I graduated. I've never earned enough to have to repay it.

...yes, but if I'd just gone on the jobseekers I'd have been paid for those 3 years and not got into massive debt.


On the lighter side, the Mrs has clocked up over £15k of student loan. Then we moved to the country where her income isn't high enough to meet the payment threshold to start repaying the loan.... if she can hold out 'till 50 years old they write off the debt. Or we may just emigrate.

Same here.
4 years of uni made me hate the subject so much that I got a job in a shop instead. All I got was some lousy certificate that looks like an 11 year-old knocked it up in MS Word.
