Hershey chocolate
Went to america a few years back and visited the Hersey factory.
Couldn't believe how cheap choccys were over there.

Well we got seven pounds (3.175 kilos) in weight of the stuff, just one problem.
None of my family liked it except me, they said it tasted of a cross between cigarette smoke and sick.

So I ate the whole lot in 3 days when we got back to blighty.
Then I had to go for a regular blood test and got called back a few days later as they thought I was diabetic. Luckily I'd cleared the choc from my system by the second test.

Tastes like shit
I've never tasted such rotten chocolate as Hershey's. It tastes really cheap and nasty like it has little if any actual chocolate in it at all. I don't understand why it is popular in the US when there are so many superior chocolates from Europe and the like.

True
It tastes vile to me too but only at room temperature.
I like mine straight from the freezer.

tastes like sick
Indeed.
I heard that they used to use rancid milk (back in the old days, before elfen safety)
Americans, having no concept of taste, assumed that this is how chocolate was supposed to taste, and so - ever since - Hersheys is deliberately designed to taste like stale vomit

As an American
I have to agree, Hershey is nasty. Though Hershey with almonds is passable, at least... Their Krackle bar has always smelled like dog shit to me. In fact, I once wiped a piece of paper across the back of one and handed it to a co-worker, who thought I had wiped my ass with it. His expression was priceless...

he he
I like choccy toffee nuts, if you keep them in a platic bag in your trouser pocket they semi melt and look like dog poo in a dog poo bag.

I did this at work took it out and said "Oh I just found my dogs poo that I forgot to throw away".
Then proceeded to lick it. One peson ran out to be sick.
Ahh such simple fun.

I found
most 'Merkin and Oz chocolate to be the same.

Tastes like ash.

Really quite horrible. Every time I go to either of those countries now, colleagues, friends, family et al, all ask me to take Curly Wurlies!

I agree.
Most mass produced American chocolate is horrid. There are some small companies that make exceptional chocolate, but it costs more than most spices on a per ounce basis.

Cote d'Or used to be a great commercially available Belgian chocolate over here, until it was bought out by Wal Mart. Its quality has deteriorated since then.

There's a local store that sells fantastic chocolate of every sort, so I can get great chocolate if I wish. For that I am grateful.

Hershey's Milk Vegelate
All the colour and calories of chocolate; none of the flavour.

Apparently bulk spoiled chocolate is commonly bought as bear bait for hunting, as in - www.bobsbearbait.com/inventory.html . The article I read years ago (and now can't find) stated that no other sound in the forest is quite as distinctive as that of a bear that's just eaten a 110lb blob of compressed (to prevent resale) selection of all of Hershey products that cost no more than 30 bucks.
