This is a question Mix Tapes

Everyone's made a mix tape (or CD, USB stick, or whatever kids do these days). Mostly to get in someone else's pants, but we're sure there are other, lesser, reasons too.

So, who did you make it for and why?
And... what was on it?

I did a mix tape for me!
Back in 'the day' I used to frequent a nightclub in Sheffield called REBELS. Many many many drunken weekends were lost in that place. It was a complete crap-hole, but it was (at the time) OUR crap-hole :-)

Oi!
Now you've done it you Eeenglish Schweinhund...

I've got to go and get the boxes of vinyl out of the loft and buy the thingy for transferring stuff from cassette to CD.

Black Betty. Haven't even thought about that for years....

Awesome!
Click for the inclusion of Thunder, Wildhearts, and Firehouse!

That sounds like my kind of tracklist. I'll have to go listen to some of the ones I haven't heard!

I was...
... a little bit 'glam' rock in those days, so they feature a bit more than heavier tracks.

Black Betty was ALWAYS a floor filler, mind, from the heroin-chic sleeeze crowd through to the metal heads.

The Wildhearts are still big favs of mine to this day. I think they might have come along after the club closed, so they are only included 'cos I wanted 'em to be there :-)

Happy Daze, they were :-)

Anyone else out there remember Rebels?

No Carpenters?
Shame.

Looks just like my iTunes list.

I reckon..
..I'll always have a spot for that late 80's early 90's hair metal :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you...
...for reminding me about Weak by Skunk Anansie. I'd totally forgotten about until I read your playlist. Good work Sir!

Could you
make me a copy..?

Was it upstairs somehwere?
I lived in Sheffield in the mid 80's and used to end up in some dive playing just this stuff and drinking Newky Brown.

Yorkshires no.1 nite spot.
Blackdog..yes it was. Up above BHS on Dixon Lane.

Birdwoman. I should be able to. Just a reminder, though, it is an MP3 CD so it'll need a computer or MP3 CD player to play it back. Message me with your address and I'll get a copy out to you.

Wildhearts
It was hard to believe that Ginger came from the Quireboys, but was good that he did! :-)

Radar Love....I didn't know anyone else did a version! I always assumed it was the original?
(, Fri 8 Feb 2008, 14:14, closed)
*click*
for GnR, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Motorhead, Ozzy, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Bon Jovi and Judas Priest (also from my other half :)
(, Fri 8 Feb 2008, 18:11, closed)
Nice song choice
But how can you have AC/DC without including anything from the black album? Have A Drink On Me, Shoot To Thrill, Shake A Leg - fucking classics...
(, Sat 9 Feb 2008, 2:04, closed)
some damn good music on that list
now that I think of it, quite a bit of that list falls under the 'often played' list on the radio station I listen to. If it weren't for the new stuff they play, I'd start thinking it is an oldies station.

Crap, the stuff I grew up with is now oldies.....may have to go lay down for a bit

Its all representative of...
...the club we frequented more than the sounds of the time. Theres lots of other stuff that could be included, and I believe one of my pals is putting together a volume II!

It gets a bit freaky when you pick up something like Classic Rock magazine and ALL of these bands are featured! When did *my* stuff become classic?!?! ;-)
