£2500 is nothing to start a business with. Even the Princes Trust give larger grants than that.
I put £150k in to starting my company, partly as I needed some staff from day one, partly as we needed to buy equipment (which couldn't be leased without any trading history) and partly as I needed to run the business cash-positive to aid cashflow.

What was the business doing?

(, Tue 29 May 2012, 14:54, Reply)
Failing, ultimately.

(, Tue 29 May 2012, 14:55, Reply)
Nope. Initial investment was made as a directors loan to the company and I was repaid in full once the business became profitable.

Certainly not. This was a proper company.

Out of interest, why did you sell it?

£2500 is no where near enough to hire another person, even at minimum wage.
