£2500 is nothing to start a business with. Even the Princes Trust give larger grants than that.
I put £150k in to starting my company, partly as I needed some staff from day one, partly as we needed to buy equipment (which couldn't be leased without any trading history) and partly as I needed to run the business cash-positive to aid cashflow.

Nope. Initial investment was made as a directors loan to the company and I was repaid in full once the business became profitable.

It was an advertising agency/ brand strategy consultancy. I sold it last year.

£2500 is no where near enough to hire another person, even at minimum wage.
