In the last thread I just pointed out how fucking excellent "new ignore" is,
I thought I'd just mention it again.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:53, Reply)
what's excellent about it?
who do you have on ignore/who is ignoring you?
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:57, Reply)
I have JMG only on ignore
Mainly due to MASSIVE PICS
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:58, Reply)
he hardly ever does those, he's alright really

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:59, Reply)
he's a hero.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:00, Reply)
I found his/her every post to be tedious in the extreme

For some reason I found all the pictures of the bloke from Coronation Street extremely funny. I have no idea why

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:36, Reply)
it were genius.

^^ditto
don't have phone data to waste on pointless pics.
Pointless text uses next to nothing though.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:06, Reply)
I've tried for fucking years to get swipe to stop commenting on my posts.
Even had her on ignore for over a year, now with one click sorted.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:59, Reply)
lovely
you should probably pay her back all that money you stole tho
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:59, Reply)
I go for the "can't stand the heat" ignore reasoning
Scroll down if you dont like the posts
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:59, Reply)
So I can ignore Battered and then post links to his facebook and linkedin pages
and there is no way for him to know I've done it?
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:02, Reply)
i don't even understand the new ignore.
what was wrong with the old ignore?
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:03, Reply)
basically if you ignored someone they could still comment on your posts
now you can prevent people from seeing your posts by ignoring them
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:04, Reply)
but that was the best part.
oh, b3ta. what have you become?
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:05, Reply)
:(

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:05, Reply)
It's almost like this change was designed directly against people like you?

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:07, Reply)
it does mean there will be virtually no heated discussion anymore tho, probably on eof the few enjoyable aspects of the site
i prefer the other guy's idea of taking replies off QOTW, that way they don't see any comments on their posts unless they come to OT or talk
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:10, Reply)
They tried that it was fucking shit.
Now they'll try this. I like the idea. To see the whole site and all the threads not only do you have to not ignore people, you have to not act in such a way that people ignore you.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:13, Reply)
so, borring then?

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:15, Reply)
It will be for you.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:16, Reply)
and most other people i think
who wants a messageboard where you're not allowed to say anything remotely controversial or disagree with other people?

might as well go back to trolling yahoo forums :(
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:22, Reply)
What are you talking about?
You say anything controversial you like, but if you go out of your way to actually target someone then you run the risk they might ignore you and you'll miss out on some stuff.

Of course some people will be over sensitive about comments, but are they the sort of people who's posts you're likely to be sad about missing? I highly doubt it.

All this does is provide a decent solution to the fact that people with nothing to contribute but abuse will find their selection of targets diminishing, whereas those people that actually provide some amusing banter and give and take it in the spirit of the site won't.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:29, Reply)
what you're doing here is underestimating the over-reactors
i got nearly 15 people ignoring me pretty much from the off, and I don't even think i was mean or nasty to anyone

and yes, i do want to see those posts. all the general chit chat is fairly lame, it's only when someone makes an idiot of themselves that things get interesting around here
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:32, Reply)
I'm not underestimating them at all
I've managed to be rude to people for years on here and I've had plenty of great back and forth so people obviously aren't ignoring me.

You have to consider the fact that you might be the problem, not everyone else.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:34, Reply)
oh i'm sure that i am, but i assure you that you will have several people ignoring you right now
and that if they weren't, you'd probably have a bit more to do around here

i just think it'll eventually leave the site as a much tamer, duller place
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:36, Reply)
agreeing with rory, right here.
the whiners and the dullards are entertainment, not 'targets'.

i think you need a new tinfoil hat, bamongoloid.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:52, Reply)
What happens if she slightly changes her username after this? She'd then be able to see and respond.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:27, Reply)
no she'd need to set up another account

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:28, Reply)
Why?

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:30, Reply)
for what chompy said, the account is ignored, not the username

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:30, Reply)
See below, so if I ignore you, I'll ignore user 90123 not "Battered" and you can't change your user number

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:30, Reply)
I get it now. Ta.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:32, Reply)
You know why someones name stays purple after they change their name?

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:31, Reply)
I always assumed that was to do with cookies for some reason.
I am not technical, as this clearly shows.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:33, Reply)
Well, it is to do with cookies
but the cookie is linked to the account number, not the name. That's how you can tell when someone changes their name but you have already looked at their profile.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:35, Reply)
It wilL be interesting to see how people's behaviour changes as a result of this change.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:37, Reply)
i'm hoping it won't, i think we'll end up with more posts with fewer replies though

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:42, Reply)
Ignores based on the usernumber not the username.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:30, Reply)
Ah.

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:30, Reply)
got your period, chompy?

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:12, Reply)
Making people ignore you had no downsides.
Now you see less spastics.
(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:04, Reply)
spastics make b3ta what it is

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 10:11, Reply)
i bet you look like Bradley Cooper in Limitless

(, Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:55, Reply)

Rocking the Clarkson look.
