(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:06, Reply)
I live - it's well documented - in Bradford.
There's no work in Bradford but there's work in Leeds which is a 20 minute train journey.

So - Weston to Bristol. Similar commute. Why not?

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:19, Reply)
TD would spang a lot of sorry no-life wankers into orbit if he was a mod.
I just do this place when I'm bored, and sometimes I'm entertained.

Like the Green Cross Code man - I can't be here all the time.

Yeah Moonlighting
As darth vader MOARlike
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:36, Reply)
Because it's not a 20 minute commute.
It's an hour commute, which would add two hours onto my working day. This is just *unacceptable*
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:21, Reply)
You could ride the Bore twice a year
That would save some pennies

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:25, Reply)
So leave at 7.30 and get home at 6.30.
My heart bleeds.

No. Really. It truly does(n't). Is that really a hardship?

A lot of people work a lot more hours than that and with a more difficult journey.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:25, Reply)
You go where the money is.
I ended up in Doncaster on Monday. What a fucking awful place, but it was sound money in my arse pocket.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:34, Reply)
You are correct. I spent years travelling internationally to build my career. Not at all glamourous despite what people think.
Worked 60+ hours a week. Only now I have that on my CV do a reap the benefit financially. It was tough, but worth it.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:42, Reply)
I obviously have no ambition.

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:44, Reply)
It depends.
If it's a job you live for, then it must be okay to spend half the day on it.
I've never had that kind of job, and I really can't imagine loving any job that much. mr b3th is one of those lucky people who's always known what he wanted to do, and he did it for forty years.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:36, Reply)
get a job as a train driver.
Then you only have to travel to the station.

I was going to bed but I'm going to be serious for a bit
TD's CV -

1989 - 2002 - Insurance Management - latterly as a Lloyds broker
2002 - 2010 - Warehouse Manager - total shift from previous, but I wanted a change.
2010 - 2011 - Bus driver, then bus company manager - is there a link? No.
2011 - whenever - self employed.

The point is - don't feel constrained. Whatever you've got moves.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 21:47, Reply)
Seeing as we're being serious
I think, if I did find that one thing I could get passionate about, I'd be happy to put in the 60 hour weeks. But so far, I haven't. And I've tried so many different things and never properly succeeded at any of them. I keep hearing about how the only failure is when you stop trying, but as long as I keep trying to get jobs that might get me out of bed in the morning, they keep telling me that my experience isn't what they're looking for.

It's not doing wonders for my confidence levels, I'll tell you tyhat.

On my first day as a prostitute I earned £60.50p.
The pimp asked "which cheap Motherfucker gave you 50p"

All of them I replied

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 22:05, Reply)
I don't know where you'll find the passion.
I love what I'm doing now but it's an extension of me being a property developer for a lot of years.

I'd love to come up with a sage, concise answer to kick your arse into gear but i can't.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 22:04, Reply)
Even if you could
there probably wouldn't be any point right now. I've managed to depress myself by dwelling on my enormous shortcomings and I'm about ready to throw myself under a bus.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 22:05, Reply)
A train would be more effective.
