in fact, the income tax bands should be the other way around and there should be no personal allowance

child benefit should be removed where one of the parents is a higher rate taxpayer and tax relief on pension contributions should be a flat 30% rather than the maximum 60%

Well people that pay in more should get more out. Simple maths
Or give them the option to not recieve the benefits and cut their tax bill

families on higher than average incomes don't need child benefit.
They can happily get by without it.
And as most higher rate people drop down to basic rate when they crystallize their pensions there is absolutely no justification for the current tax relief arrangements, not to mention the gross unfairness of the relief being based on the marginal rate on the full contribution.
