Russell Brands rant about politcs was one of the most retarded and petulant things I have seen on TV

It confuses me. he ha some good idea but they way he puts them across without thought denotes his credibility.

*demotes, and it's still the wrong word

I've got no problem with celebrities standing up and saying "Hang on..." with regards to politics
but they need to have some kind of argument other than "Well it just doesn't work does it". As far as I can tell he was just saying the current system is bollocks, there'll be a revolution and everything will be better, no I don't know how or when or why or what the new system will be, but I'm right.

Maybe his logic was that however embarrassing his rant ended up being, there's no way anybody could think any less of him.

possibly
as I have said before I liked his radio show and it warmed me to his style, but he is clearly out of his depth in that sort of discussion and using florid language to try and cover it up doesn't work when you have an audience that knows the subject

He wants a more hippyish world of one whole planet.
everyone working as one whole sentient being, free from the shackles of religion and oppression.
I think he needs to get back on the heroin.

Exactly
Knowing words of more than two syllables is only impressive on 8 out of 10 cats. Paxman looked like he was torn between laughing right in Brand's stupid face, thinking about retiring mid-interview and wishing he was allowed to go Full Paxo and see if he could induce a Ben Swain-esque megablink.

the problem is that the average joe with a vote understands far less than brand

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:08, Reply)
Leave Phillie alone :(

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:10, Reply)
Very true
but my problem with Brand's nonsense is that he understands not only more than the average voter but probably more than many who actually follow politics, and yet he bangs on about this ludicrous utopia instead of making reasonable suggestions that people might even listen to given his ill-deserved celebrity status.

Also if you've never voted you have no right to complain about those who are elected.

if he had a bath and cut his hair, i would

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:16, Reply)
Can you imagine how long a bath he'd need to take to be suitably decontaminated?
The subsequent pruning would make it like being pounded by a manatee

She needs to die in a curling tong related incident.
How can you be that dim?

I mean I know that my knowledge of other countries gripes is few and far between but even with the use of social media, you know the basics.
(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:02, Reply)
Yah. It's fairly clear that the current system disenfranchises the poor and rewards the rich.
Pointing it out and then saying "I've stopped voting because I want a revolution followed by the world somehow magically sorting itself out into the hippie commune me and Tangles want" makes you look like a retard. Which, despite my personal distaste for the man, he isn't.
(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:05, Reply)
But we spent ages tie-dying all those slogan t-shirts :(

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:06, Reply)
He bangs on about the fact that countries boundaries are self imposed, which they are.
You can't just take back thousands of years of conflict and war so we can go skipping off through a field together into the sunset.
(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:08, Reply)
Why can't we all just, like, love each other, man?

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:10, Reply)
stop trying to recruit people for the yurt love-in

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:16, Reply)
Im all for peace, but as long as we have religion, that shit aint gonna happen.

(, Wed 19 Mar 2014, 12:17, Reply)
All religion has to do is agree that other religions are probably OK.
Which is sad. Doubly so when you consider that all the major western and middle eastern religions worship the same god. They're antagonistic over dogmatic differences. It's pretty tragic, really.
