So I don't.

My Ma' don't care really as long as it doesn't have any kind of circuite board.
She don't want any chocolate or flowers, so I might get her some fags and lotto tickets, she'll like that.
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:37, Reply)
Flowers and a card.
Standard.
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:27, Reply)
Nothing.

Before or after the Alzheimers kicked in?
I'm thinking a postmodern novel might be a bit much for the after. A picture book of big cats or CD of songs from the 50s, probably would have gone down well.
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:29, Reply)
I always prounce Alzheimers as "old timers", and its normally something that old people have, true story.

(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:31, Reply)
Box of chocs and a card this year.

I keep getting texts and emails from companies inviting me to surprise my mum on mother's day with an awesome gift.
The temptation to reply "fuck off you insensitive pricks, she's been in the ground for 23 years" is strong.

I always thought they were were the same thing?

(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:38, Reply)
no
esssentially parfum is stronger. toilette is more watered down. parfum is more expensive and lasts longer, but not all women like such a strong fragrance.

best choice: jo malone "red roses".
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 13:36, Reply)
Cool, that's a fair few quid.
Not that she ain't worth it, but I'm not in my usual financial state this month.

that would be overkill. but i've got a couple of nice paintings for having them to stay for various art fairs and things over the years. mostly though i'm jealous of her amazing ability with a sketchpad. she can entertain herself for hours, and it's so nice to look through.

I don't know - we're pretty different.
She makes Hyacinth Bucket look like Waynetta Slob, and I spent much of my teenage years taking recreational drugs and becoming a pretentious prick "arty".

She seems to have taken my doing so personally.

But she's alright - we're just different.

We're going out for lunch and I shall give her a big bunch of tulips
plus a promise to stave off putting her in the cheapest old people's gulag I can find.
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 14:18, Reply)
I've been doing some work in a few old people's homes recently,
Some horrid, some nice. My advice is that it would be kinder to kill her.
(, Thu 27 Mar 2014, 14:22, Reply)
Yeah.
In reality I shall organise with my brother over one of us building an annex to keep her in. Doesn't hurt to create a sense of morbid fear and impending doom over a period of years, though.
