So a certain space western franchise has released the cast for its latest filmMy sister is all butthurt because out of 8 announced cast members only 1 is female. She argues that as women make up 51% of the worlds population (they don't) that they are under represented in film. I argued that the ***r W*** films are works of fiction set in a fictional universe and that the story tellers can write whatever they like and they will write what sells in order the make one point twenty one jigawatts of cash.
So are women underrepresented in the film industry? Personally I think they are story tellers and should be under no obligation to represent any gender, race or religion. If the women don't like it then boycott them and go and make more Steel Magnolia films.
