Tommy Ramone has died.
Tis a glorious day, I might go shopping.

It's what he would've wanted

Hey ho.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:17, Reply)
To be fair, the Ramones always looked half-dead
The day is lovely - I may go shopping, I have some errands to run and it's party in the park in Baginton later.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:15, Reply)
Well they are all dead now.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:21, Reply)
They're all dead Dave
Everybody's dead Dave.

alright placid
'Closing the loopholes on tax avoidance'?

So you'd remove the tax wrapper from ISAs and pensions then?

Doesn't seem fair somehow.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:13, Reply)
No
Personal taxation for most people is PAYE - not much scope for grabbing back billions there I feel. My gripe is businesses running their turnover through offshore accounts and claiming they make no money in the UK so they don't have to pay tax here (Viz Vodaphone, Google, Starbucks etc etc).
Basic question to put to these people - if you make no money here, why are you trading here?

and
"why do you think it's OK to use a country's infrastructure while contributing nothing to the cost of it"
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:34, Reply)
you don't understand the difference between avoidance and evasion

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:36, Reply)
Dozer owns a thesaurus and a baseball cap. He knows much.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:39, Reply)
I haven't owned a thesaurus since my schooldays m8
You just assume that everybody else is as thick as you.

one's legal and the other isn't
legal doesn't necessarily mean morally right, though. Given who makes the laws, and the revolving door between the Treasury/HMRC and the banks.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:41, Reply)
My morals are different to your morals, that is why we have laws. Whether you like the laws or not.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:52, Reply)
so you don't think that it's a healthy thing to have movement of staff between the regulators and the regulated?
Interesting.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 11:29, Reply)
OK Dozer, I stand corrected
Avoidance should be made impossible, those corporations that wilfully avoid tax don't get to play here.
Tax evaders should be hung. Tax lawyers - hung drawn and quartered.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 11:03, Reply)
hanged

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 13:02, Reply)
Not too tough to die after all then.
I might go shopping.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:17, Reply)
What might you buy?

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:20, Reply)
Oh, well there's a question. Maybe something clothing related. Don't really need anything else.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:32, Reply)
Might see if I'm allowed a new phone yet.

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:34, Reply)
Get a Nokia 3210
You could play Snake then.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:39, Reply)
There's probably one knocking about in my house somewhere

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:50, Reply)
yeah, the ramones sold out when they started putting their t-shirts into hmv for 10 year olds to wear

(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 9:58, Reply)
We are having a party for the dog, my daughter wants one. There will be pate sandwiches, dog biscuits and two dog guests. I can't bloody wait.
Will your Saturday be any better?
(, Sat 12 Jul 2014, 10:36, Reply)
Yes, because I'm not you.
