I would have thought though that someone in their family/peers/religion/etc would say " Hang on a minute, think about this...", and let's say they're being hate-preached too, I would have thought someone would cough up to the po-po

quite often they keep the darkest bits hidden
you often see families that have no idea quite how radical someone has become, until they have upped sticks and are shooting people

Shit, fathers and brothers kill female members of their own family for "shaming" the family.

I find that crazy too, even if I wouldn't dob in my own family, i'd dob in someone else's family.

It is crazy, but it's not one thing that makes them go.
It's a whole culture that strips people of any real freedom of expression, yet tells them that if they're not good enough at following orders they'll be eternally punished. They live under a rule of thumb, and although some never become extreme, if your entire life your told by your closest family and peers you might not be good enough. And then the country your in tells you you're probably free leading rapist scum. And then a man your age offers you untold riches and dreams if you die fighting. Some will trot off.
