Morning chums, tell me something good about today. I'm expecting a rep today with snack samples, so that's a nomnom of delicious salty goodness.
ALT, free school meals for those up to seven years old from this week. Are school meals still as rubbish as they were?

The best thing about today is that you will be dead by the end of it.

Shut up tosser.

Today I will be picking up my new lawn mower - all petrol power, electric start and self-propelled. W00T!
*edit* it seems a lot of the original post didn't make it so here's what I meant to put.
School meals are calorie-counted, nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared* daily. My G/F works in a school kitchen that serves 2 primaries. They provide more than 190 meals/day (sometimes up to 250 ish)freshly prepared and served by only three people - hard work!
*The meat is cook/chill slices on 'roast dinner' days

Lawn mower fives! I don't know if school meals are as bad as hospital ones, they are pretty disgusting.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 7:48, Reply)
I agree on that hospital meals (at Coventry) are 'fucking awful inedible shite'*
School meals seem to be much better than they were when I was at school.

*actual comment I put on the patient feedback form the last time I spent any time in hospital**

It's only 114 days until Christmas!!!
Alt: I think rubbish school meals are just for the poor kids.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 8:48, Reply)
I look forward to Christmas.
Our yearly holiday means I can stop physically assaulting tourists in London and go do it on their home turf.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:00, Reply)
I do and all
I get to stop working for a couple of weeks and drink during the day more.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:03, Reply)

Got some new "superfast"* broadband yesterday.
Testing at 106mbps, it's piratical heaven. It has, however, had the unfortunate by-product of having me weep with frustration at London's mobile network coverage. How can I be in a city with a larger population than Scotland and STILL not be able to view hardcore tranny grot on the tube?

*loathsome 'word'
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 8:58, Reply)
There was some chap on the radio the other week arguing for the nationalisation of the mobile network
Would probably make more sense to invest in better national coverage than in shaving half an hour off the train journey to northern Britain.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:05, Reply)
I don't really understand the necessity for HS2
I quite agree that faster Internet links would be far more beneficial. Even with half an hour off the commute time, it'll still be quicker to Skype.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:14, Reply)
Total waste of money the HS2.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:17, Reply)
really? shit you'd better tell them before they start work on it

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:19, Reply)
Good idea, I'll compose a strongly worded letter

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:21, Reply)
It's a good job you noticed that flaw, I doubt they've even looked into the cost implications

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:22, Reply)
Probably not. I may write to my MP too, whoever they are.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:25, Reply)
It's an accountancy-style, London-centric solution to a London-centric problem
'If only we could get more people to live away from London, we wouldn't be so crowded - I know, we still want people to work here instead of those nasty provinces, right? Here's what we do, the provincials will still live outside London, but they can commute from further away!'

I took my daughter to school today for her first time in the "big" yard
She wasn't bothered at all, so that was good. Roads were quiet into work and I have coffee and toast now.

Son starts school tomorrow and will be on the free school meals. Thats good for him as he eats LOADS. I understand they are all good now. I enjoyed school meals as a kid, mind you
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:48, Reply)
Even school meals have to be better than gruel.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:50, Reply)
My school meals in middle school were 'alright' 3 options - standard canteen affair.
In high school they were some outsourced business that I think had one tray of slop that nobody touched and burgers and chips every day (which at least were consistent, even if they were just lips and arseholes).

I tended to eat my sandwiches in 'little break'.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 9:55, Reply)
Can we have one day where we don't talk about children and food?
You fat paedophile.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:03, Reply)
I don't have children and i'm not that bothered what other people eat or like, one of the many reasons i'm so fucking brilliant.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:07, Reply)
But are you a fat paedophile?

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:08, Reply)
not since i found jesus

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:09, Reply)

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:09, Reply)
steady on m8, this reads like you're calling me a paedo which might be libelous

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:11, Reply)
I might want to reconsider that post

(, Tue 2 Sep 2014, 10:12, Reply)
Hallelujah.
