Fucking hell
Good weekend? I managed a leisurely 400 miles on the roads around Yorkshire this weekend, though it was rather good, ending up with a bottle of red and a curry last night. A cracking way to end a weekend, what?

Pub quiz tonight too. Are you a general knowledge person? Mastermind specialist subject?

dozerfact of the day
I led my House in the 6th form to victory in the interhouse quiz two years running, returning the trophy to School House after a fallow period of some six or seven years.

Keyword: tedium.

a good weekend
the budgies are getting on well. not so good for meatsnake poster, who is rather unwell today.

i do like a good pub quiz. the one i go to sometimes has the best cheesy chips in london, which is always a good excuse. specialist subject: literature. worst subjects: geography and sport.

Top one thanks
Apart from my team losing 3-0 to a bunch of yids. I went and got drunk with some current and past internet reprobates* (Lampito and The Supreme Crow showed up), then had a lazy sunday morning**, then had a pub roast lunch*** and finally went and saw Kingsman**** which was top drawer.

Also Aston Villa got beaten 5-0 by a bunch of Frenchies which took the sting out of the football.

A very good weekend
Watched a lot of sport and pretty much did feck all else.

My son had a couple of volleyball matches, watched Andy Murray lose, the England cricket team lose, the Old Firm game and some of the Superbowl.

As a TV quiz champion (I may have mentioned this once or twice) I LOVE pub quizzes.

Specialised subject : Geography
Not so specialised subject : Literature

Murray needs to stop shouting at himself
As soon as he did that, he had lost

Having an opponent feigning injury one minute, and then playing fucking brilliantly the next, would probably piss me off, to be fair.

You are the most likely here to have actually researched this.

(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:11, Reply)
tbh most red wines will go well
Voignier and Gewurtztrameiner are the only whites that can really stand up to a curry.

Is that a type of wine?

(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:10, Reply)
You get wine from Chille. But it doesn't matter I was just trying to be funny because curries often have chillies in them.

(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:14, Reply)
I don't get it.

Nice weekend down in the capital, dinner with ladypig and drinks with some top folks. Then sealife centre followed by Sushi. which felt a bit weird, but delicious.

they've got penguins up there in the sealife centre now, I fucking love penguins. Silly little bird bastard just cheer me up.

I ran the quiz at my pub for a long time, and have sort if lost the joy of going to them. I was always good for a but if history and music though.

My local's quiz rolls over if if it's not won, so they can develop quite a pot.
It went up to just over a grand last summer, and Mrs V and I couldn't get our usual seats because of all the quizzers, which was rather upsetting.

It's well hard - one of the questions last year was (paraphrased) "Who said this about whom, when asked 'Can he play bass?' 'A bit.'" - it's proper geeky stuff.
(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:48, Reply)
How is there not a winner for a quiz?
When my old local was closing I won the last ever (and my first) bonus ball.
(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:50, Reply)
You have to get something like 80% right to win the pot, or something, I think.
We don't do it - I go to the pub to drink, not do exams.
(, Mon 2 Feb 2015, 12:51, Reply)
Shite.
Was working for most of it.

I did buy a single-speed bicycle though. Frame's a little small for me but it'll do as a run-around.

Something I was grateful for as I didn't fancy learning how to ride a fixed hub four miles home in the dark, in the snow (with an owl).

I don't get these references because I don't read books for children.
