My second eldest is a huge Studio Ghibli fan and now wants to try ramen after seeing them eating it in one of the films
I was planning on letting him try some in Wagamama when we're in London at Easter. Never been there, is it any good?

Where have you never been (apart from my mum and don't try telling me otherwise cause you're a stinky liar and I'm not listening anyway) ?

Alt: RIP Gazza. Who are you surprised is still alive?
Alt2: First time at Thorpe Park this Saturday, what's worth going on ? (I'm quite sure this also doesn't include my mum)

Wagamama is almost the definition of "alright" it's fine, decent food decent price decent service.
But nothing special.

Is gazza dying a meme I've missed because I keep looking it up and not finding any proof he's dead.

I looked at other places that serve ramen but Wagamama does a kids portion that he can try then I'm not so out of pocket if he doesn't like it

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:17, Reply)
Makes sense, if he likes noodles and soup he'll probably like ramen.

Nearly all memes that were generated in your absence relate in some way to bullying Battered.

The sun, the centre of the earth, the bottom of the ocean, there are quite a few places. I don't fancy listing them all.

Alt: Elvis
Alt2: I wouldn't go on your mum at Thorpe park, the queues are always massive and a poncho won't stop you from getting wet.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:18, Reply)
Alt: I can't wait for him to serve me my waffles over in Florida*
*not a euphemism
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:19, Reply)
Aren't these Japanese cartoons all about nonce porn and tentacles or summat?
Wagamama is 'alright'. The first time I went to one all the staff were Japanese. They're not now.
I've never been to a steakhouse.

Alt: Monty Boyce off of the internet.

Altalt: Canada Creek opened in 1989 and is themed around the Canadian Rockies. It has three attractions, a Burger King and the Wild Wings Noodle Bar. The main attraction in the area is Loggers Leap a Mack log flume with a double drop.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:18, Reply)
Apparently not in the Ghibli stuff
Not like back in my day when they had the decency to have cock tentacles flying everywhere. I'm sure I've got a copy of Urotsukidoji or whatever you call it somewhere.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:21, Reply)
Nah Ghibli stuff is awesome Spirited away is a classic.

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:25, Reply)
I've never been to wagamama or pizza express or yo sushi or legoland

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:20, Reply)
Really? I'm seriously starting to question your choice of girlfriend.
I'd get a new missus mate, she's obviously neglecting you!
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:21, Reply)
it's so unpleasant not going to what appear to be mediocre chain restaurants (although wagamama looks okay)

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:24, Reply)
They're like the adult equivalent of being treated to a trip to McDonalds.
Having said that, out of the three I've only ever been to Pizza Express for a birthday lunch thing. It was alright.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:26, Reply)
looks rubbish, those fire & stone ones are quite good though

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:27, Reply)
It's like any restaurant though, chain or otherwise.*
If the chefs are competent and take pride in their work the food will be enjoyable.

*Obviously excluding those places, like burger king and mcdonalds where 'cooking' doesn't really come into it.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:30, Reply)
some places just strike me as depressing, and i'm really no food snob

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:32, Reply)
I'm with you on all but Legoland. It was "fucking shit"

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:22, Reply)
i don't want to go anymore, just as well now you've said that, i'd still like to go to the jorvik viking centre though

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:25, Reply)
The whole place stinks of some strange chemical concoction
which was a failed attempt to recreate authentic Viking BO.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:44, Reply)
historic accounts tell us vikings had baths once a week, this was considered excessive by the anglo-saxons. personal grooming items are also some of the most common artefacts found in viking excavations, hth

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 12:11, Reply)
Wagamama is to asian food what McDonalds is to the burger...
...consistent but meh.
Never been to China or Japan and I really really want to
Alt: Gonz. It's a good job he doesn't have to write his own prescriptions - God alone knows what he'd end up with.
Alt2: Never been to Thorpe park so can't help. Soz
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:26, Reply)
wagamamma is mediocre and expensive for what you get

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:27, Reply)
Alt: Has anyone said b3ta yet?

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:38, Reply)
I wouldn't call this living.

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:42, Reply)
I liked wagamamamagamagamaga, it was reasonably priced, and good food.
The only other place we have similar is a noodle nation, cheaper but not bad at all, not sure if it's a chain mind.

Alt: Alison Moyet, the big fat shit.
alt 2: never been, not a bug rollercoaster fan, maybe a go on the teacups.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:39, Reply)
I didn;t know till going to Alton Towers the other week that there are two levels of teacups on the teacup rides
You get ones in a set of three on a circular platform that spins and ones that sit stationary on their own in gaps between the circular platforms that are shit and dull. Stay tuned for more fascinating #themeparkfacts
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 11:51, Reply)
I also did not know this.

(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 12:07, Reply)
hell yes
this was one of the very first things i learned about alton towers as a kid.

the second was this: you can go every school holiday (if you are lucky and your dad is up for it); you can spend all day on really dangerous rides... but you'll only end up driving across the park in an ambulance when your mate jumps off the seesaw too soon and it flies up and cracks his little brother across the chin. or to put it another way, the seesaw is the most dangerous ride there.

also, my friend fell in love with the seriously gigantic oblivion mugs, but didn't want to carry it round all day (oblivion is at the start)
i ordered one as a surprise later on, and the woman who dealt with me had the frankly amazing job title of.... "MANAGER OF CLOUD CUCKOO LAND".
(, Tue 3 Mar 2015, 12:12, Reply)
i went on oblivion shortly after it opened when i was 15 or so, *something* struck my right testicle on the vertical descent which was really quite unpleasant and it remained sore for several days #themeparkfacts

I remember playing a card game when I was younger, forget waht it was called
You had to get rid of all your cards and if you put down certain cards the next player had to pick up more cards and other cards let you put down more cards after it but you had to put down either the same number or suit. Everyone seemed to have different rules for it. I can't remember it there was any counting involved though as I don't think you get it in casinos.

Everyone seems to have their own rules for pool as well
My eldest thinks it's alright to have two shots on the black after a foul and some bullshit about moving the white ball on a foul. Picking up the white would get you a swift willow headband in my day.
