What are you listening to now?
What's your favourite song of the moment?
What's your guilty pleasure?

Or you can just wax lyrical about your favourite band while everyone just nods and thinks "what a wanker"

'A villain, a rogue, an evil or "black-hearted" person,
hence abbreviated low brow U.K. style to "blaggard"
From blackguard -- either concerning street urchins who would blacken clients' shoes, or from the house servants who worked in the dark quarters of the house: a person whose conduct or character is disgraceful, disgusting, morally unfit; a thief with evil intent; a contemptible scoundrel; a term of abuse; a foulmouthed person'

(, Fri 21 May 2010, 9:56, Reply)
No it's not
1. It's a musical and therefore by definition shit
2. Ewen Macgregor has the most annoying siniging voice in the world
3. It has Nicole Kidman in it, she is shit
4. It's directed by a cunt of such magnitude he has his own event horizon
(, Fri 21 May 2010, 10:00, Reply)
1. Musicals are not all shit by definition.
2. I think he's got a cracking voice.
3. Maybe, but I'd still give her one.
4. I actually quite like Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo & Juliet.
(, Fri 21 May 2010, 10:10, Reply)

1.Wrong - Cats, Starlight express, Annie, Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock you etc etc shit, shit shit. Anything that attracts Ben Elton and Lloyd webber has to be a massive pile of wank.
2.Wrong
3.Yeah but ginger pubes
4.Maybe, but that's like saying Hitler could knock out a pretty good watercolour so he's alright

I've been repeatedly saying this on /offtopic
but I advise everyone to listen to:

Big Star - The Ballad of El Goodo
The Mekons - Memphis, Egypt

and although they aren't the most respected band in Rock and Roll history, I do have a soft spot for the Presidents of the USA and therefore you can't go wrong with Lump. That entire first album in fact.
(, Fri 21 May 2010, 9:51, Reply)

Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Carcass - Heartwork
Metallica - Some dreary crap called death magnetic
Pantera - Far beyond driven
Strapping Young Lad - City
Megadeth - Peace sells but who's buying
(, Fri 21 May 2010, 9:52, Reply)

Peace sells is good, I gave up on them after countdown to extinction.

I notice the Megadeth article doesn't include all ex band members, probably becasue it would be so big the internet would collapse!

I never really got metal.

(, Fri 21 May 2010, 9:55, Reply)
Yeah, but I like metal and I love Metallica
from whom Megadeath were spawned.

They're one of the few heavy metal bands
that I can actually get into. Love the "Rust In Peace" album.

Heartwork is a cracking album
And they are astonishing live.

I'd also rather have Vukgar Display of Power over Far Beyond Driven any day.

1. Son House - Walkin' Blues
2. My counter on last.fm would have you believe it's Alabama Train by Louisiana Red, though I think it's currently giving over to one of Pictures of Home (Deep Purple), Magnu (Hawkwind) or The Super-Natural (John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Peter Green)
3. "Guilty pleasure" makes it sound like there's something I do that I'm vaguely ashamed of. What do you take me for?

I won't wax lyrical about The Who as there's a very real danger of me being here all day, and you all think I'm a wanker anyway.
(, Fri 21 May 2010, 10:25, Reply)
Magnu is a fucking brilliant tune, off a peerless album.

(, Fri 21 May 2010, 10:26, Reply)
It is.
Which album's it from, incidentally? I have it as one of the tracks on the Epocheclipse anothology, which is..erm...variable. (Though I originally heard it on a live album on which it was mislabelled as Angels of Death)

In My Time of Dying by Led Zeppelin
Have recently been coming around to that maybe Mastodon's album "Leviathan" really is all it's cracked up to be.

In anticipation of the 10th birthday of my club night I've been revisiting some corkers from the start of the decade - Fat Lip, Bodies, Tribute, Stupify. These should probably count as guilty pleasures but I feel no shame in playing songs I know will make the dancefloor go off.

So I'll go for Alisha's Attic
