This is a question Tactless

As grandmasterfluffles puts it, "My ex once told me, "That's the best sex I've ever had... Well, apart from with my cousin..."
What's the most tactless thing you've heard? And was it you saying it?

Another case of me being tactless to my younger sister...
... the same one as in previous story.

I was still living at home and arrived home from work to find my sister, then aged 18 or so, in floods of tears, absolutely besides hersefl. It turned out she'd just learnt that our Mum and Dad, shock horror, hadn't been married when our older sister was born, shattering her image of a happy little family. So I did the big brotherly thing and sought to console her.

"Look," I said. "It's not that bad. At least they were married by the time you came along."

She stopped sobbing for a moment, looked at me, and said, "What do you mean, when I came along? They were married when you were born, weren't they?"

"Well yeah," I said truthfully. "For at least two, maybe three... months."

That certainly broke the silence. I thought she was gone to scream the house down. Turns out Mum had been deliberately vague and given her the impression they'd got married not long after my older sister arrived and well before I was on the way... Whoops...

Are you a time traveller from victorian times?
Your sister would be shocked to discover that people in this day and age sometimes never get married but still have kids!

Nah, I'm not that old...
... and besides, what her views are on kids born inside or outside marriage is irrelevant to the story. What it's about is her assumption of how our family had developed and learning that was wrong.

All her life, my sister had assumed, as any kid with married parents would, that her mum and dad had got married well before any kids came along. So finding out that wasn't the case upset her and shook her world a bit. Then I came home and shook it up some more.

Probably didn't help the way she found out - my mum yelling "I only married your father because he got me pregnant" mid-argument with her...

Bit of a delicate flower, your sister?
and quite a drama queen, too.

You bastard!
Oh, wait.
Sorry.

Heh, been there. When my auntie and uncle made a big splurge about their silver wedding anniversary years ago
I flippantly mentioned to my cousin that she was 25 too, what a coincidence, haha!

Apparently she went home and 'had it out' with them, and there were tears. The wider family thought I was a right bastard for telling her about the scandalous shotgun wedding and ruining the celebrations.

Right, so she couldn't count up to 25 on her own? At the age of 25?

I'm shocked. I really am.
We got married when six months pregnant. No shotgun, no pressure, just got bored of people assuming we were married, plus, we planned on staying together forever, so why the fuck not?

But, our daughter (now 24) has always know this fact. I can't think of a single reason why a child wouldn't be told this????

My brother and his wife only got married after they'd had three kids. It was nice for them to be at the wedding.
