This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

1st edition signed
I have a pretty much complete collection of all the books by:

Douglas Coupland
Bret Easton Ellis
William Gibson

All 1sts, all signed. All mint. All my favourite authors.

Although not really sure what to do with them. They're in nicely sealed storage. One day.. ebay. No idea what they're worth, maybe someone knows, knowing my luck, fuck all.

But it took me a long time, so along with my art theft spoils, they are my most treasured possessions. How dull.

How did you get hold of signed Gibson books?!
Neuromancer is easily my favorite SF novel. Did you hear a film version is actually going to happen. I bet it'll be shite though!

used.addall.com
is your friend.

But don't rely on the tick boxes to select '1st' or 'signed' - much better to search on keywords.

It's a used book finder (searches across all the other book sites, or you can select only certain ones).

I could while away hours on there, compiling an imaginary shopping list.

neuromancer
is ace. Slight confession on that, I only have the UK 1st edition, not the US. Its probably the most valuable tho.

Personally, from Gibson, I'd like to see a film of Virtual Light, or maybe Pattern Recognition.

I like most of the BEE films, yes even Less Than Zero, and they;re making The informers I believe.

I;d most like to see the film of Girlfriend in a coma by DC, but if they fucked it up they would have to delete it immediately.

thanks for the link above also, i'll check that...

Errorist
- signed Gibsons - all from Ebay actually. One from a random shop on Charing x rd.

Lunar Park
I too am a devout BEE fan. I didn't like Lunar Park at all though. Don't think the Informers will work as a film - it's all about the distance in the prose. Trying to convey that through the mise en scene will prove difficult I think.

Oer..
I've been re-reading my collections of Douglas Coupland this week. Great stuff.
