This is a question "You're doing it wrong"

Chthonic confesses: "Only last year did I discover why the lids of things in tubes have a recessed pointy bit built into them." Tell us about the facepalm moment when you realised you were doing something wrong.

Where does it say you don't eat the pod?

Um... I think you can.
The larger/older ones may need blanching though.

*facepalm*
They're BEANS aren't they? I just thought you'd spelled Edam funny and thought 'you'd have to be a bit of a moron to eat that red wax'. Hmmm ... bit of a backfire there...

Thank feck for that
Not being a cheese lover, I thought it was some kind of wax covered edam too.

It's in the small print. Very small print. Sadly, in kanji, so unless you can read it, you're stuffed. Same with wasabi - every grain has a health warning and usage instructions microscopically printed on it.

Pistachios confuse many people
Parents in law make fruit and nut baskets. They have stopped putting in pistachios as they got too many complaints that the nuts 'had gone mouldy and were all green'.
