Is it bollocks
there is NO such thing as a bad compo, just bad entries. Ok, so 'some' compos have a limited span of where you can go with then, but not all,
this has the potential for a great compo, and has been shown to be by many people on here who have produced some cracking entries.
Rather than saying it's a shit compo etc, get your brain around a good idea and shop it to raise the level of the compo.

so that the board isn't actually any fun this week

I agree
that it does indeed have the potential to be a good competition (see my comment here).

However the problem with a compo like this is that people have limited imagination and decide to post in the compo despite not having:
a) Any talent
b) Any inspiration
c) Any ability to read through the previous posts and find out what's bindun.

Hence, broadly speaking, shit compo.

the same can be said for a number of the last compos, all generating the same sort of ideas/posts:
board games - monopoly
black and white challenege - michael jackson and jade goody
gillian mcKeith - shit
obituaries - thatcher

as examples

instead of whinging about it, why not actually do something different to include in it, thus showing brilliance in the face of adversity

I fully, fully agree.
There have been loads of compos which have been lame as fuck.
A prime example being the McCartney one.

And yes, I could do something brilliant in the face of adversity - but after posting it, it would be swamped by thousands of shopped film posters.

but the compo always calms down after a few days, and today, the board has moved nice and steadily,
there will always be something coming along to move yours down the board a bit, and if its getting swamped by other posts you want to avoid:
a.) don't post in on wednesday night/thursday morning
b.) see how fast the board is moving before posting it.

Then, people will click, gets into the popular section, and gets noticed for its brilliance

aye, same here. It's just people always moan about compos, and I've finally realised that there isn't a point to it
ok, if it's a shit compo, then don't enter it, it's not 'the law' or anything, and for those that have been here a while, they know what it's going to be like on wednesday nights/thursday mornings.
Just doesn't seem any point in moaning about it or calling it shit when it'll be changed in 7 days
