I've heard a few horror stories recently, and have decided I need a External Hard Drive to back up my work. I'd like 300Gb+ and ideally one which wont corrupt itself (a mates did - is it common?) but I've not a clue what's a good brand or where to look. Can someone help?

It had to be sent back twice within a few weeks as all of a sudden my pc wouldn't see it. They idiots "fixed" it and the same thing happened. I've not had any problems since but now I don't trust it.
You buy an external drive for backups/security so don't go for cheap rip-offs because your drive borking is nothing compared to losing your data.
