This is a normal post What I want to see
is a gender-aware James Bond who cares about third gen feminism, worries about people's fucking issues and isn't ashamed to talk about his feelings.

Great film that'll be. Bond's core audience of young men will be on the edge of their fucking seats.

This is a normal post yep those are the only two options
a Bond film 'about feminism' or him being a rapey cunt.

Craig's Bond seems all vulnerable and 'having issues'-y in any case

This is a normal post No-one's interested in those issues.
All James Bond films are shit, let's face it. But he supports the British film industry almost single handed. He's a sexual predator to whom women are irresistibly attracted. Young men watch it because that's what all young men want to be. And, no matter how much you dislike it, they always fucking will.

I liked the Daniel Craig Bonds precisely because I found those issues made the character interesting.

'Do you expect me to kill?'. 'No, Mr Bond, we expect you to agonise over it for some inexplicable reason and then kill, that way a tiny minority of wankers feel much better about it'.

That explains it.

This is a normal post Obviously
quantum of solace is so typical of a Bond film that anyone who talks about classic Bond scenarios can be accused of having only seen that film.

Just like every bond film ever.

This is a normal post Don't dislike him or his performance especially but the plots....or rather writing.
First is a remake, fine. Second one is a dull plot and a dull villain, third is one big plot hole ending as Home Alone, it also starts the dreaded shrinking universe that is turbo charged in the last one (also contains the worst Bond villain ever, and that takes some doing)

This is a normal post Great film that'll be.
And as popular as Triumph of the Will.

Being only as attractive as a film would be if it's appeal was restricted to hardcore Nazis. After WW2.

Really?

A James Bond feminist film?

Who would go see that?

Nobody, that's who.

Well, maybe you but that would imply you are nobody and I would never say that. So nobody.
(, Tue 30 Jan 2018, 20:13, , Reply)
This is a normal post But Triumph Of The Will IS still popular.
And old-style James Bond films ARE still popular.
So I'm not really sure why you're trying to compare the two.

This is a normal post I see the Guardian hasn't risked opening their idiotic rant about James Bond to comments.
Guess what, shooting loads of nameless people isn't all that politically correct either, but it's not a series of documentaries.

This is a normal post It would seem from the evidence
that PC is whatever you want it to be to support your latest irritation.

Oh, james bond is not a feminist!

Well, hide my surprise. He has been that way for 50 years, what agenda are you trying to push by making this news specifically today?

---

Just to warn everyone, I have been drinking Rum tonight and so my opinions tonight are likely to be overblown and inflammatory. Also probably very not PC.

In other news, Wood's rum is exceptionally good value for money. About £22-£25 a bottle but at 57% is economic. They use the same still as they did 250 years ago and the same recipe.

Man's rum. Not like man's whisky, which is just unpleasant, it is a treacly, molasses tasting rum. Very nice for the cash.

Anyway.

back to stuff.

This is a normal post I assume you're having a go at the Guardian rather than me
It's like the time one of the journalists there had a go at a Monty Python sketch for portraying Hitler in a funny way, 40 years ago..

Anyway, as now there is a movement about genuine sexual harassment, and potentially rape, in the film industry, someone in Guardian Towers has now decided #metoo is all about saving the fictional women from 50 year old films as well.

*serious hat on*
(just to say, as far as news websites go, I still think the Guardian is one of the best, but when it comes to feminist issues, 90% of the time it all seems to go doolally over there, the latest article on Roman Polanski is surprisingly good though)

EDIT : It seems we have the same view of the gruaniad. Mostly sensible but loses the plot on certain issues.

On the whole though, one of the better biased news outlets.

EDIT 2 : Now, can you please stop encouraging me to make sensible responses to sensible posts? I did not get drunk just so I can appear reasonable!
