It's nothing to do with the protest.
If you're in a giant suit, people hit you. Trust me, when I was 16 I did a couple of very degrading jobs two of which (I lasted a day at both) involved dressing up in degrading suits. Some people are f*cking dicks. Because you've got padding on (and they know you can't fight back or chase them) they think its fair game.
