Not necessarily the easiest

Hahaha!
Nope, pro barista. It's surprising how many places saying 'I make the coffee' will get you in.

TROLLEY DOLLY WITH THE COFFEE!
Well if you're ever in London try the Mommouth COffee shop, if you haven't yet have heard of it. The owner is an explantation manager and the tasting room is just staffed by apprentices rather than waiting staff (they also roast downstairs and have patent on a couple of organic decaffination precosses [not that I want that sort of thing])

I can, however, appreciate that you need to travel round the world with your own special brand of coffee stashed up your arse in condoms:P

Kopi Jimbuktu?
Monmouth were good but have been slacking over the last couple of years, so I go there for filter only, which is still good. Worth looking out for are Fernandez and Wells, Dose, or Square Mile (though they are a very bright profile if you don't like that) also Taylor Street Baristas, Caffeine and a few others here and there. Gwillam is still around too if you want some great great coffees from a really nice guy. I roast too when I'm not abroad and we help out a lot of business in the city with technical help if they need it. I'm off on a coffee tour on Monday, so no doubt will be popping in Monmouth to keep updated, they played an important role in bringing good coffee to the UK. Thanks for the suggestion though!

So
How do you make coffee when you've not got a decent machine handy? Chemex? Aeropress? *is clearly looking for advice on how to improve the quality of his own habbit*
(, Mon 13 Sep 2010, 0:31, closed)
Well,
We ship out machines with us, a mixture of Spaz s5's, (Boo but love the steam wand knob), Marzocco AV's, EE's, or the new paddles, all slightly customised (PID controls and downrated steamer elements), so I have machines all the time. However, if I/we want a good filter then a hario handheld grinder and an aeropress are great for cleanliness and portability with good quality.

If you're in London then we havea training room and do training and allsorts if you're interested. You can play with a synesso, spaz, marzocco or +4u depending on what is where as well as different filter coffees. Feel free to message me with any specifics though or just gen questions and I'll always answer. Everything but Espresso by Scott Rao is a very good read if you like filter and want to learn more.

I like how you've clearly indicated you're exceptional at what you do,
...and still people reply with "well have you thought of this...?"

I'm not as world class, but have spent a while becoming a bit of an expert on bicycles - I've built and wrenched for various pro teams - and still I mention I'm a mechanic and people say "oh, you should get down to Halfords, they've got a sale on" or "why does anyone need to spend more than £100 on a bike?"
