A good pint of Stella is a very good pint.

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 9:57, Reply)
Not sure, but it sure smells and tastes chemical, like there's industrial detergent in it.
Probably cos it's made round London, the imported Belgian stuff doesn't have the nasty chemical aftertaste and is pretty good stuff as a result (but more expensive).
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 9:51, Reply)
Perhaps your local doesn't clean the beer lines out properly?

So what you're saying here is
that you're making libellous remarks against a major manufacturer based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever other than "I don't like it."

Sound strategic move there, lokers.

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 9:55, Reply)
30-40 units probably
easy enough to work out when I was drinking wine - 1 bottle = 10 units-ish. Now I'm drinking more whisky than wine I have no clue.
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:11, Reply)
mine is pretty tragic really
quite often I go weeks without drinking anything at all, and very seldom drink more than 2 nights a week anyway. i'd say on average 0-5, rising to about 10 at a push on occasions.

next weekend in Bristol may increase this month somewhat.
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:16, Reply)
I'm getting my car back this weekend.
It's hard to over-stress how excited I am about this. I've been without it for about a month, now.

Yeah I know, I know, everybody hates car chat. I'm just excited. Also we booked a short break to Marseilles and I find out my brother's having a baby boy.

Well, first of all, I was always planning on getting the engine worked on.
Plans were brought forward when a piston ring went. Instead of simply getting it repaired or a straight replacement, I went full bore.

The engine's been bored out, cammed, a flowed head put on, a specially designed manifold installed and it'll be tuned and tweaked once it's run in. It'll be putting out about 190bhp per ton, at a conservative estimate.
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 9:48, Reply)
You have certainly gone full bore.

I can't even picture what that is in real terms.
By real terms I mean "bottles of wine/pints".
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:05, Reply)
2 bottles of 13.5% wine a night

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:06, Reply)
Or about 9-10 pints a night

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:07, Reply)
I probably average about half that and I feel like I should probably cut down.

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:08, Reply)
Bout 7-10 pints a day I reckon?

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:07, Reply)

What is the worst you've encountered?

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:09, Reply)
Hahaha.
I knew you'd say that. Proper whisky/vodka pissheads must be on several hundred a week.
(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:09, Reply)
My old man was doing a bottle to two bottles of whisky a day, at his worst.
And by "worst", I mean Bell's. Man had no taste whatsoever.

That's considered light drinking in his profession though, isn't it?

Crikey
especially as women's tolerance is only supposed to be 2/3 of men's, that's phenomenal to do that and still be alive.

(, Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:15, Reply)
isn't that why winehouse carked it?
too long being dependent, cut it off too soon instead of weaning off it, then went back on it and couldn't cope?

you have to reduce gradually, or do it with drugs. one patient died from smothering, he had a fit and suffocated in his sweat drenched sheet. tragic, only in his 20s

I read somewhere that the withdrawals can be enough to set off some pre-existing weakness.

The human body is wonderful instrument.
When I was a broker, we all drank Stella or Kronenbourg. Would do 4 at lunch and 4 in the evening before either going home or out. All additional drinking was on top of that so people were easy doing 140+ a week. It adds up really quickly, Stella is 3 units a pint!

The liver's an extraordinary piece of engineering.
You really have to go at it to kill the thing. It's like Wolverine, otherwise.
