Alright?
Watch any good films recently?

Alt: Following on from Battered's question, are you a better chef/cook that your OH?

AltAlt: I'm being sent on a 'social media' training course in a couple of weeks, any tips for not falling asleep?
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 8:56, 34 replies, latest was 10 years ago)
the last film I watched was Avengers Assemble.
It was utter shit.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:05, Reply)
That sounds like it's a kid's film

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:15, Reply)
It is.
But it has Scarlett Johansson for the dads.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:22, Reply)
Cor! I'd like to avenge her assembly or summat

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:24, Reply)
I'd like to give her one and no mistake!

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:26, Reply)
I was ill recently so I watched a load of shit on Netflix
I watched Stand Up Guys which was really good. Goon, Bounty Killers and The Perfect Host were fun and a film called Paranoia with Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford was one of the most excruciatingly bad films I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of films. Harrison Ford was so lethargic and unengaging it was like he was sleeping through the whole film and his performance was being powered by a potato and a few wires.

Alt: It's debatable but I'd say my potato mashing skillz put me over the top. No matter how many times I tell her she's shit at it and there are a fuckton of lumps in it she never tries to improve her method.

Altalt: Potato and wires.

I don't watch films very often, so my answer to this hasn't changed since the last thread about it a couple of weeks ago
Alt: Yes I am.
Altalt: Get a good night's sleep beforehand, don't drink too much, ensure you eat a good breakfast and pay attention, you might learn something.

Last film I watched was Gravity last night
Booooooooooring

Alt. I cook. My wife does not cook. I am glad as I don't want to die. When I came out of hospital she attempted to serve me pork chops cooked bleu because that how I like my steak.

AltAlt. Kill yourself
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:13, Reply)
so basically, your wife is trying to kill you

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:49, Reply)
Alright.
That slavery film: 9
The Book Thief: 7
Saving Mr Bank: 7
Gravity: Zero, although I was told afterwards it was better in 3D. Makes sense because it was one dimensional.

Cooking, I do about 60% and maybe have a slight edge.

Dunno why that has a course soz.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:43, Reply)
Going to watch '12 Years...' soon, quite looking forward to it

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:52, Reply)
it's good, but a bit racist

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:55, Reply)
Yer. The black guy did it.

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:01, Reply)
I watched World War Z the other day
It was "ok"

Alt:
Yes, though bizarrely she can cook a mean rare steak even though she likes hers like shoe leather.

AltAlt:
Goat simulator
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:44, Reply)
the book's good
I heard the film's a total mess though.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:50, Reply)
Its OK to watch with the quick zombies, etc
but there are some really silly bits.

I've been watching the "Everything Wrong With ...." clips on youtube. Very good indeed
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:51, Reply)
there aren't any quick zombies in the book

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:52, Reply)
It's not the book though. It's a film.
Two different things, you see. Different, you know. Not the same.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)
So where did the zombies come from?

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:58, Reply)
St Albans

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:59, Reply)
Somewhere foreign. It was a virus or some implausible disease.
Found the cure in Wales. I knew the film was nearly over and they were going to beat the zombies because Brad Pitt wouldn't be seen dead in Wales.

windsor
i know this because my friend's husband did the CGI for that movie. you should see the computers in his office, ridiculous. i wouldn't have a clue what 0.1% of them do.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:18, Reply)
They generate imagery.

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:19, Reply)
his wife is my writing buddy
we use his office for writing when we want to escape their 1 year old, and it's ridiculous, trying to write with about 5 screens all in a row.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:21, Reply)
going to the cinema tonight, i'll let you know
i went to a talk by the walking wounded south pole soldiers and prince harry last night, absolutely amazing.

altalt: cut a small hole in the pocket of your trousers. every time you think you're falling asleep, grab a handful of your tufty pubes and yank.

my dad's thinking of buying a classic saab, which has led me to looking up his old cars on the dvla to see if they still exist. my amazing old beetle is still alive! but someone has painted it PURPLE.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:48, Reply)
I saw my first car a few months ago
It drove past me along the seafront

You feel sorry for a car?

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)

only MY cars that have been cruelly crushed into a cube :(
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)
Do they not have cars in the North then?
it must have been an exciting day. Did crowds line the streets to witness the horseless carriage?
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:36, Reply)

Why have they got soldiers in the South Pole?
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:54, Reply)
it was a charity trek
they were all blinded or amputees or some other life changing injury. the girl said that they called her "captain papercut" because she was "only a single below the knee amp".
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)
I went to that a few weeks ago.
I had a chat with a woman who did it. Nice lady.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:58, Reply)
i was really impressed at how amazing they all were at the public speaking too
on top of all the physical stuff, they were confident and hilarious, which is hard to do, esp in front of 600 people. it was genuinely inspiring, however cheesy that sounds
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:03, Reply)
Yeah.
They came and spoke to 50 of us so mine was better.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:07, Reply)
i slept with two of them
whilst prince harry filmed it and tossed himself off.

i win.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:18, Reply)
You got stumped

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:23, Reply)
well not really
but theoretically it was a googly
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:25, Reply)
I watched 'House of the devil' last night.
Was good. A slow burner horror. Quite atmospeheric. Set in the 80's but a few years old.
Im a great cook. Only really have time on a weekens but still like to do fresh through the week but with frozen veg.

Altalt. They're going to teach you Facebook and Twitter?
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:51, Reply)
Think it's more along the lines of how to use them to advertise the business

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:53, Reply)
It's all bullshit anyway, you can't promote a business well via social media

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:54, Reply)
it's about engagement rather than promotion per se

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)
I hate companies that pretend to 'engage' with their customers.
Just provide your service and shut the fuck up while you're doing it.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:57, Reply)
THIS^
"So how are you today sir?"
"Look, just fuck off and give me my PAC code"
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:03, Reply)
Personal Identification Number number?

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:07, Reply)
Yeah, for the ATM machine (and I'm not, for once, talking about YM)

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:10, Reply)
My energy supplier has taken to sending me heartfelt apologies when they make minor fuck-ups.
I think I preferred it when when they were all 'fuck you, that's why'.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:08, Reply)
EDF are so bad they keep having to give me money
I think we are at about £100 compo now
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:09, Reply)
and you'd know

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:02, Reply)

Hashtags, setting up pages and accounts, paid advertising.

Job done.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:55, Reply)
I was off on the sick for a couple of days last week.
I watched Love, Honour, Obey it was alright.

I also battered through the whole of True Detective.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:56, Reply)
this sounds like you wanked your way through it

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:57, Reply)
Well I didn't.

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:58, Reply)
yeah right

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 9:58, Reply)
Worth watching True Detective?

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:13, Reply)
I'd say so, yeah.
It's probably even better if your attention span isn't completely fucked by the after-effects of a migraine.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:17, Reply)
I thought Gravity was OK. 12 years a slave was not long enough.
He should have got 25 years as a slave.

Alt: I am a better COOK. Although the Mrs bakes and being a sugarfree footwrong I am not overly interested in this.

Altalt. Tangers advice up there is about right. PMA FTW.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:02, Reply)
Watched The Selfish Giant at the weekend.
It were good, if a bit art.

Also watched the Evil Dead remake. I say "watched" I mean "turned off after about 20 minutes because it was shit".
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:20, Reply)
Was it bad? What a shame.
Rotten Tomatoes gives it 62% but it also gives Captain Phillips 93% and I thought that was average.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:23, Reply)
Well maybe I'm just nostalgic, but it doesn't play it for laughs, and I just wanted everyone to die immediately.
Also it seemed to take active delight in the tree-rape.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:34, Reply)
I enjoyed Cpt Philips except for the rifle sniping between one boat and another during a force 10.
Good shots they were.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:35, Reply)
I just didn't care enough.
I think Tom Hanks is alright normally but I just didn't give a shit what happened to him, the crew, the boat or the hijackers.
(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:38, Reply)
I liked it when it sank and he died.

(, Thu 3 Apr 2014, 10:40, Reply)
that was leonardo di caprio
