i pulled up my purple carrots yesterday, they are some strange shapes but taste great
I've been genuinely surprised just how good hoe grown tastes, tomatoes particularly

The only disappointment I had was the courgettes.
They were a bit woody.
(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:26, Reply)
Really? mine were great and so easy to grow

(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:27, Reply)
I maybe didn't water them enough.

(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:29, Reply)
My courgettes all failed
:o(

Tomatoes are nom, as were the peas, the carrots, the parsnips, the garlic and the onions. I might pull up the rest of the beetroot this weekend and pickle it.

My chilli plants are starting to grow proper chillies now! JOY!

I think my beetroot is probably ready as well, not sure what I'll do with it yet
Purple broccoli has been the biggest disappointment, the plants are enormous and have produced fuck out florettes

Courgettes and tomatoes are fucking rank and should stop pretending to be vegetables
As for the carrots, the parsnips, the garlic and the onions, carry on.
(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:33, Reply)
Tomatoes are all of the win

(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:37, Reply)
Tomatoes are ok smushed up in to a paste and used as an ingredient in cooking
Raw, whole or in chunks are disgusting

(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:54, Reply)
I must confess to rather liking my tomatoes
I fucking hate the watery tasteless shite ones you normally get though
(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:55, Reply)
I chopped a couple up and scrambled them into some eggs last weekend
It was really good!

Hoe grown?
Ladies of the night would certainly bring a little joi de vivre to the allotments. Although I can't see the Percy Thrower types strutting between the raised beds in the full velvet suit and fur coat...

No growth hormones used.
Making flavour more concentrated within the smaller veg. Home grown stuff is great. I miss having a garden.

My veg beds are made of recycled old bricks and next doors oak roof trusses that I saved from the skip. Cost me a couple of bags of cement. All the old rocks, mortar and shit paving stones went in as drainage and two bins full of ash from burning all the crap in the garden in too. In total I probably spent about £10
(, Fri 3 Oct 2014, 10:46, Reply)
Yeh but veg is pointless. All it does is take up valuable meat room on the plate.
