hi all
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:19, archived)
# Yes, but
Zwan sounded like they were playing in an empty hall, which they havent before.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:21, archived)
# i liked them.
in a special way.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:22, archived)
# And Martina
Topley Bird, lovverly voice, could melt butter..
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:24, archived)
# She's a slapper from Bristol
who smoked too much dope.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:25, archived)
# Yes, but
A nice voice.

Did she turn you down?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:27, archived)
# No, I got genital warts off her, the slag.
Plus she has nipples like barnacles.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:30, archived)
# i'm not so keen on her
she never styrikes me as that great a bassist... and i didn't like a pefect circle (that was her previous band right?)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:26, archived)
# Wrong band
Paz is in Zwan, whos from A Perfect Circle. And they rocked as well
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# d'oh... i get mixed up
whos she from?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:31, archived)
# Martina Topley
Bird sang on early tricky records, now shes a solo artist...
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:35, archived)
# qotsa appear on her new single
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:37, archived)
# Aye they
Do, though you wouldnt know it if they didnt sticl that stuff on the promo cd. Top song "Need One" reminds me alot of Morcheba
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:41, archived)
# i found her
terribly boring... metheney was as mindblowing as always pity he only did one song
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:37, archived)
# metheny was quality.
did anyone else notice the strings he was using?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:41, archived)
# yeah
unusual tuning... aty first i wondered if it was nashville but i couldn't weork it out
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:43, archived)
# he had bass strings on the bottom 2
some sort of high gauge mid sets and a thicker one instead of a high E. He must have used some open tuning, judging by the way he was playing.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:48, archived)
# i wondered
if it was a modal tuning

ed: never used one so its pure theorising
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:49, archived)
# dunno. Itd be hard to tell something like that without playing the guitar itself.
i reckon it was probably octave pair tuning though, seeing as he had the bass strings on it. It was definately open tuned though, cos of the way he was playing it, mostly open strings with chord alterations.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:53, archived)
# true
basically... he's just a bit good (prefer john mclachlan though despite the pink suitedness)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:55, archived)
# no
your right they did sound a little flat... they need to be played really loud in my opinion and that doesn't sound right on tv... i do like corgan and pajos guitar playing though
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:22, archived)
# I saw
Em rehearse for TOTP and they were just supreme...
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:23, archived)
# i do like that
droning guitar style they have... its a little different, i guess you don't have any choice with 3 guitars
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:25, archived)
# Paz is
So yummy. And Jimmy is an underrated drummer.

The album is just a taster of good to come, kinda puts Audioslave to shame (apart from Cochise being an amazing single)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:26, archived)
# audioslave fucking rock.
but the new metallica album pisses on everything for the next three years.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# No, that
Audioslave album is very poor indeed. Cornell is very good with his voice, but musically its just, well not very good (I mean good chord changes, but thats was Rage, change a bit Tom you freaky headed guitar god)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:30, archived)
# morello is morello, no two ways about it.
asking him to do something different would be like asking a leopard to change its spots. I thought it was a quality record, full of strong songs, and some fucking great riffs.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:31, archived)
# Morello is a type of
decorative cherry, isn't it?

# Personally Id
Like to rip that fucking switch out and stick it down his throat.

My prob is with stuff like "Like A Stone". That solo is dire. I mean dire. The song is good.

The record needed 4 more months work, and not Rick Rubin producing. then it might have been a bit more weightier. Zwan's album was much better for song.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:34, archived)
# cant say ive listened to Zwan
but i wasnt a fan of the pumpkins to begin with. Fact reamins though, St. Anger pisses on everything thats due to come out in the next three years.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:37, archived)
# It cant
Be better than QOTSA "Songs For The Deaf"
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:38, archived)
# non metallica fan
*raises eyebrow*
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:39, archived)
# its a fucking superlative piece of work.
the heaviest thing theyve done in years. its got more energy than anything ive heard in the last 5 years. Its just a big FUCK YOU to people that accused em of selling out and to people that said they couldnt do this kind of music anymore.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:44, archived)
# yeah... i'm sure its heavy...
but still don't you think it starts to sound like a kinda parody of the stuff they were making... 15 (guess) years ago or so?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:45, archived)
# nah i dont think it is.
its much more modern, but the aggression is still the same. They just seem so focussed now.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:54, archived)
# i've never been a fan of agression
when it becomes agression for aggressions sake (dillinger escape plan anyone?) it starts to become almost manipulative in the way it plays with people who do actually feel those emotions very strongly
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:57, archived)
# Hmm, well
Lets see what non-die hard fans think, the true test...
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:46, archived)
# sell-out?
they backed their record label in suing their fans that dared to try to share their songs online. despite the fact that they were charging $50 a head on their us tour to see them.

even though they are shit, have always been shit, and will always be shit.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:51, archived)
# woo
well said sir
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:54, archived)
# nah i still like the guitar playing
some nice use of slap back delay... delay effects are my new friends :)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:32, archived)
# i love long delay, repeated fully.
you can do some psycho riffs with it
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:34, archived)
# Aye.
Audioslave smell.
I was most let down.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:32, archived)
# he's not exactly underrated
but he is an amaaaaazing drummer... i have a live acoustic version of today and hes just awsome on it
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:29, archived)
# Respected by
His peers, and my friend rates him higher than Dave Ghrol and he loves Nirvana, so thats a high enough accolade I think.

Play with this and have fun
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:32, archived)
# i've never been such
a fan of dave grohl... what he mostly seems to have on his records is a clarity of tone that not many rock drummers achieve (songs for the deaf being the ultimate case in point) and i think a lot of that falls to the awwwwwwsome producers he';s worked with
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:35, archived)
# I think
You'll find that the Queens of The Stone Age "Songs For The Deaf" (being the best rock album in many years) shows he is a super drummer now in his own right.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:37, archived)
# he's good
but somehow... he's jsut a rock drummer... he doesn't do anything different he just does it wel... best rock drummer is the guy from sprung monkey
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:42, archived)
# i liked corgan
in a special way.

I once ejaculated into his shoes. FACT.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:24, archived)
# really fact?!?
?!?!?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:25, archived)
# yes.
i have also eaten nicky wire's underpants.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:26, archived)
# erm... can i have
a percentage on these facts?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:27, archived)
# 10,000% of FACT
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# 100%
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# wow
you're my new hero (not the nicky wire bit he's a prick)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:29, archived)
# That's why he ate his pants.
He was really narked when he found out.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:31, archived)
# lol
they're also the most dull band i've ever seen live (leeds 2 years ago)

incidentally the best band i've ever seen live was mercury rev at the same festival... mindblowing
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:33, archived)
# mercury rev and mogwai
glastonbury 98.

wow.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:35, archived)
# Lead singer
Of Mercury Revs voice is stunning
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:44, archived)
# yeah undoubtedly
but the one thing i'd say is that live... grasshopper seemed a bit pants but still wow
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:53, archived)
# why do you think
i ate his pants?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:33, archived)
# You ok?
You seem slightly more charged than usual...
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:25, archived)
# he needs a wank.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:26, archived)
# i actually don't bother wanking much these days.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:27, archived)
# slightly drunk.
and not taken medication today.
oops.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:26, archived)
# Ahhh...
Now i'm with ya...

How are things otherwise?
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# you only need to take meidcation if you acknowledge that you're wrong
and if you take your medication works you shouldn't feel wrong.

which puts you in a pretty fucked-up place.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:28, archived)
# that made little sense.
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:29, archived)
# it will when you've taken your pills
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:31, archived)
# i think
he made it up

FACT
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:31, archived)
# i believe that's only 100% of fact
because you once ejaculated (50%) into shoes (50%) that you thought would look good on him (0%)
(, Sat 7 Jun 2003, 2:27, archived)
# they were.
