Hey there,
I am very fond of your site and regularly waste valuable time staring at it. In the last few months there has been an increase in trolls and I think this is purely the fault of the regular posters.
The 10 or 12 people who constantly post on the board have formed a clique of the kind rarely seen outside of a girls catholic boarding school.
Any person outside of this circle who posts slightly over the limit is called a cunt and told to fuck off, hardly reasonable.
People with limited photoshop skills are sworn at and threatened for producing the much derided 'text on a picture images'. Again it is hardly fair to these people, when to be honest most of them are just trying to join in with the fun.
When the clique is pulled up on there threatening manner they justify it with the ten threads per page argument, when in reality all of the guff they produce is of little interest to anyone but this imediate group.
I am not refering to the really talented (mutated monty, happy toast, JJ, in vino veritas, Butters, TUTT, Dave the Hat, etc) who in my mind make the site worth returning to, just the usual bunch of keyboard heros slinging abuse at anyone without a full knowledge of internet memes.
I really think that the trolling will increase unless you politely ask people to calm down.
cheers

Oooh I'm really talented *beams*
Who wrote it then? C'mon... tell us!
EDIT: And Rob, is this you telling us to calm down?

it appears the sender likes drawings more than photoshops
so that is well constructed argument

us photoshoppers will just form a little clique and troll everbody else

So they're not real vectors then?
That's a shame. Imagine being able to expand the head of Dave the Hat to the size of the moon without a loss of quality!

I've seen DTH's head
it's perpetually out of focus no matter where you stand!

Yeah well
I could import them into Illustrator and then they'd be "real". You can go back to your DTH imaginings now :)

edit: what an interesting list of 'talented people'. This person is obviously part of some kind of clique rarely seen outside of boarding schools.

Sometimes I wish I was a flirty lass so that I can get listed in lists of talented people.

oh and I think this:

shhhh, we're not allowed to talk about that!
mind you, 4rthur fell on its arse quite spectacularly, and most of the original b3tans were lost during its boardquake.
I think me, micto, and a few others were the only ones to escape the rubble

This is why I gave up flaming ages ago, not worth it :)
The odd -nicely put - word in the ear, or bit of guidance does a lot more than the flaming.
hope they can see past the trolling though :)

/personally, I don't see that any regulars contribute to the trolls anyway. The new users are generally ok, and we have some cracking new users.
Considering you have to wait a week before you post - generally speaking - it gives you time to see how the board works and watch how it goes,
as well as a chance to have a glance at the guidance in the FAQ.
I reckon around 8/10 times, most new posters get more guidance and encouragement than slanging in their threads, although admittedly there will be the odd one or two who do go to town on the language.
If they get it wrong, there is usually someone there to help them get it right, and they can move on, the trolls will just post regardless rather than giving it up
still, just an opinion

Speaking as someone with no art skills
and no program other than MS Paint, I find that the answer is: if it ain't pretty, it had damn well better be funny.
Why, just look at this hilarious offering:
Despite its crude text-on-picturality, it's still throughly kneeslapping, I'm sure you'll agree.
No, your own knee...
And that wasn't my knee...
Or a slap...
But don't stop...

"the 10 or 12 people who constantly post on the board"
there's only a dozen regular users?
and yes there are a few people who over-react and get abusive at 2k over the limit but there are just as many who tell them not to be over-reacting twats and there are a few brave souls who politely ask them not to post over the limit
and it's "their"

This has been going on for around 2 years, not just the last few months. It's like /board has become a massive forum of Nathan Barleys (ugh) since /talk was established.
Rarely can be arsed anymore. I may not post much and what I do is largely shit but when I do I would hope for some kind of input on my efforts (my last two efforts which took a shitload of work were glossed over) instead of everybody simply fawning over TUTT for having nice legs.
