# I struggle to name even 1 thing that
Labour have done to benefit me since 1997

As a higher rate taxpayer, married no kids, mortgage --- all labour have done is tax the living shit out of us.

# Fry, Laurie, Charlie Brooker, Simon Cowell and Alan Sugar.
Seriously. I love all five. Cowell and Sugar because they're unfalteringly honest, regardless of the consequences and I think that's so very admirable and brave.

# not after the Tabloids hounded Charles Kennedy out
i haven't voted Labour since 1997 but i do get sick of people whining about tax. for the most part tax revenue is well spent - it could be a lot worse.

# Poor Charles.
All he did was open up about it. My heart broke for him, bless him. My father is an alcoholic, has been since his teens and so I know the disease very well. That poor man, he was so brave to be honest about it. I really felt ashamed for all those who hounded him out.

# And some of our greatest Prime Ministers have been alcoholics
There must be some evil higher power pulling strings making sure we never get a decent Prime Minister... we lost John Smith in the 90s, and Charles Kennedy (albeit not permanently) in the 00s

# What made me laugh about that situation
was when Simon Hughes admitted to having homosexual relationships in the past.

After the current party leader had been hounded out for being an alcoholic, he obviously thought to himself "Yes, my past isn't going to come out. And if it does it won't be controversial. And it's not important that I lied about it in the past. And if it is, the tabloids probably won't care much."

seeing as most people pay into private health and pension schemes, NI is just another bloody tax
(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 10:51, archived)
# Yes indeed
and working in the NHS I can safely inform you that most of the extra money has been thoroughly wasted.
(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 10:53, archived)
# good good
I would be disappointed if it had been spent wisely
(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 10:54, archived)
# yes, but it's the NHS itself that has wasted that, not the Government
(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 10:57, archived)
# Well, yes and no.
A lot of the money gets wasted fiddling everything so the hospital meets government targets, regardless of if they are met or not.
(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 11:00, archived)
# now now, I'm sure it's only been wasted in the incompetant trusts
the ones that are reasonably managed are rewarded for their efficiency..

by passing what would have been a budget increase into the fucked up trusts

ah, gotta laugh innit :D

(, Fri 6 Jun 2008, 10:55, archived)
# Yes
People who are on the dole have a much better standard of living than everyone else in the country and spend their time laughing at all the taxpayers who pay for their caviar and chandeliers.

It's a fact.

Got me off the dole queue into a great job, which has led to my owning my own lovely home and being able to buy expensive computers, foreign holidays etc....
