Thread for Udio creations
AI "music" is evil, however I enjoyed playing around with this and thought it would be fun to have a thread on here. Not clicking "I made this" as an AI made it from stolen samples, all I did was give it a few instructions.

This is my first real exposure to AI "music".
The novelty value wears off really really quickly, doesn't it?

Some of it is jaw droppingly good,
but as with its visual counterpart there's more and more shite to wade through to find it, and the more of it there is the less valuable it seems to be.
I'm still enthusiastic about one day having *useful* AI music tools incorporated into DAWs (virtual musicians and arrangers who you could train using your own source material for example), but text prompt based stuff does not seem like the way forward, at least not for me.

When you say jaw droppingly good,
do you then actually listen to it more than once for pleasure?
Most AI stuff just seems impressive from a distance, and shit when you look at the detail.
Udio is only fun because of the human input. If you couldn't write your own lyrics, I doubt anyone would enjoy it.

There are a few that I have listened to more than once, yeah.
E.g. the 'new' Nirvana song from a few years ago.
AI DSP seems, to me at leat, to be better quality than its visual equivalent, but of course its a little shonky, and it's dependent on the material its been trained on. The kind of AI tools I'd be interested in would be MIDI/score based anyway.

That one of my old schoolmates now is working with Boston Dynamics. He was initially a 3D animator. Then became an engineer.
Now he combines those fields by “animating” the movements of BD’s robots.

If the Ukraine experience has shown anything it's that the war robots of the future won't look anything like this. Why build something like this when you could just take an off-the-shelf drone and rig it to drop a grenade on their head.

I like this guy, he's clearly very talented and driven, and he's done very interesting stuff, like the 32 GameBoy synth, and the church organ rebuild. But just.. the hypercaffienated delivery and 'yoof' vibe he has kinda grates. Maybe he has ADHD, maybe I'm just too old now, who knows?
Fair play and best of luck, like.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You have passed the test of internet stranger loyalty. Crab Bloke is coming to your gaff tonight where, for one hour, he will spoon you, stroke your hair and whisper in your ear about your kind words. Don't look him in the eye though or he WILL try to fuck you energetically up the arse and tbh it's very difficult to stop him once he gets going.
