Not babysitting as such
But a lady walked into my office recently with her baby, and when she needed her hands to sign some documents *made* me hold it.

I was closer to shitting myself than the baby.

I don't think I've got what it takes to be a babysitter, too afraid I'll drop them.

Sounds like you'd be a....
very bad parent too!

Chill out.
Holding a child is easy but, should they wriggle free, you'll find them remarkably bouncy and resilient.

Well, one hopes you weren't going to shit the baby.

I never held babies that were offered for fear of breaking them, till my own one arrived...
First time i ever held a baby was when my daughter was born and the midwife thrust her into my arms and walked off. My wife was still in the room being sown back up after emergency c-section. I stood there for about 20 minutes too terrified to move about in case i dropped the baby.

Lols same for me too. Still one of the most amazing moments of my life. Just held my second boy yesterday for the first time.

Practice with cats
If you're struggling you can throw them away (not like in a bin) and they'll land on their feet and won't care.

I couldn't hold an animal until I moved here and next's door cat kept coming to play (trespassing in my house) and digging holes (for shitting) in the garden.

So, your story is 'I held a baby once'.

essentially, yes.
I've never babysat anyone.

And my memory doesn't go back that far so I have nothing else to add.
